The first time I was introduced to Chromie Squiggles was viewing @DCinvestor collection just over five years ago, but prices were a bit ridiculous 😅. They’ve been through both bull and bear markets and at the depths of the bear, there are still only around 100 listings in a 10k collection. I’m incredibly excited to add my first Squiggle by @ArtOnBlockchain to my collection. Aesthetically beautiful and with the extra provenance of being a Day0. the title announces its reference plainly:
Mark Rothko's stacked color fields, refracted through the lens of the artist’s signature abattoir aesthetics
the 666 works in the collection were hand painted, photographed, then put through an LLM for die’s first generative AI collection
each composition borrows Rothko's formal vocabulary:
soft-edged horizontal bands, luminous gradients, meditative composition
but the palette has been brutally ironized
reds recall not spiritual transcendence but raw tissue
the canvas is a battlefield. paint drips down like rendering fluids
the work belongs to a lineage of desublimation
where Rothko sought the sublime, diewiththemostlikes offers the abject
the gesture is not parody but inversion
the same forms, the same silence, reoriented toward flesh and decay
there is no abstract, no figurative, no revolution. there is only the physical reality of the flesh
