The war appears to be winding down, which I obviously hope is true. But this war has been a disaster. It will have cost us about $60 billion, loss of life, plus economic & geopolitical damage that could be irreversible. Who benefitted? Think your life will be much different?

@asianmomriot @C_3C_3 The UK didn’t need slavery at that point since they were a mostly manufacturing country. They did however, encourage slavery in other countries since they were dependent on cheap raw materials. Hence they predominantly supported the South during the Civil War.

@C_3C_3 The UK banned slavery decades earlier through the far less bloody process of legislation. Having to fight a massive civil war because half your country violently refused to stop owning people probably isn't the best example of American Exceptionalism.

Want some truth? There are ~195 sovereign countries in the World and all 195 have had slavery. But… Out of those 195 countries the United States is the only one that fought a full scale Civil War to end it.

The U.S. produces 13.6 million barrels of oil per day and imports 6.3 million. The U.S. uses 20.8 million a day. Already a deficit. I'm paying around $1 more per gallon as opposed to February. Someone please explain to me how our gas prices will go down if we are selling our oil to the world.

No, wrong. The soil productivity has defined limits. You can mod a tomato to produce more, but it either drops in nutrional quality, or you deplete the soil, and/or poison it w/ the chemicals required to maintain the mod crop. Fertilizer is different. Oil based ones are toxic per se, but they do dramatically alter/decrease microbiota, which again depletes top soil. Which takes hundreds of years to replace per inch.
