@loveleesfinance We had bratwurst on sourdough buns with horseradish mustard cream sauce, caramelized onions & a chopped cabbage salad. We make sausage twice a year, smoke them, then vacuum seal & freeze in meal sized portions. Definitely a favorite in my house.

@Budgetdog_ I homeschooled my son for 3 years, with no regrets. Every year we asked what he wanted. When it got to highschool, he asked to go back to our local public HS & is thriving. Sadly, the other kids we met while homeschooling all ended up train wrecks. The stories I could tell....

Homeschooling is growing ~5% per year. 2x’d since COVID. Public school systems aren’t the same anymore and people know it.

@CarsonTalkMoney @simplecentsco At your age, I would take a Roth over a 401K all day long. Outside of the match, I am not sure that a 401K is ever in your best interest during your early working years.

@simplecentsco More than me! I can’t even get a 401 K till 21 at my work :( I’m just having to max out my Roth and throw a bunch inside taxable accounts

This is a NORMAL 401k balance… I am 24 and this is normal. It’s not $500k, it’s not even $50,000! Don’t let some of the unrealistic posts on this app skew your view of reality…you are probably doing just fine…

@themoviedadsc We have lived for 30 years next to a single guy, never married, no kids. At first (30s), he bragged about life as a single guy & seemed to have an OK social life. Over time, the dates got rarer & then not at all. He is a nice guy, but it is very sad as he spends 99% home alone.

My big takeaway from this chart is life gets very lonely after 30 if you don’t get married and have kids. Work becomes this groups primary social outlet for decades. Worth thinking about if you believe friends alone can replace the long-term community that family provides.

@simplecentsco I've always invested. My parents were heavy into RE during my early years, then transitioned to stocks in my teens & we had buy/sell discussions as a family. At 18, they funded a small IRA for me learn with. As an adult, investing was talked about whenever we were together.

@BoomerDivvies I wish we spent less time with absolute questions like stocks or real estate, rent or buy, 401K or taxable, growth or dividend & stock pick or ETF. The answer for most wealthy people is all of the above. The better question is when, at what percentage & in what market.

Some of us on FinX are older and very financially secure, with many decades of experience in investing and wealth building. And are happy to engage with you. If you’re in your 20s or 30s please remember that’s we’ve been your age, but you’ve never been our age. Most of the *big* FinX accounts are run by people who haven’t been around long enough to know what they don’t know.

@thehealthb0t My mother went blind & died from the shingles vaccine. The virus in the vaccine caused an autoimmune reaction severing her optic nerve causing blindness. To treat the reaction they gave her high doses of steroids, which compromised her immune system & allowed rapid cancer growth

RFK JR - Many don’t realize, the Chickenpox Vaccine Causes shingles Epidemics “When the CDC was thinking about mandating the chickenpox vaccine for your children, they did a study. The person they hired to do that study was a scientist named Gary Goldman, who did a long-term study in California. What he found is that if you give the chickenpox vaccine, mass vaccinate, it stops chickenpox, but causes shingle epidemics later on; which is 20x deadlier. Despite those studies, we mandated for American children in this country, but in Europe they don’t. If you go to the British National Health Service website right now, you can read that it will say, “We do not recommend chickenpox vaccines because it causes shingles epidemics later on… and that’s the problem. (Check the link here: nhs.uk/vaccinations/c…) You can’t say this product is going to prevent this particular disease, but you have to look at the long-term implications.”

@simplecentsco My son goes to college next year, and he will do it debt free, as I did. Starting your life burdened by debt, even for a high quality degree, limits your potential in so many ways. Even more tragic, when the education paid for by the debt doesn't lead to a higher paying job.

@NotA_Bull Disagree - I have far more than 10. It is my personal index fund - where I determine the buy & sell points, can adjust risk level, hold the optimal amount of dividends to satisfy cash flow needs & buy quality stocks on the cheap during corrections when fund managers have to sell.

If you own more than 10 stocks, you're just running your own personal index fund that will NEVER outperform the market. Agree or Disagree?

@simplecentsco I never DCA, per se. I build up cash (and a list of potential buys and prices) waiting for the next market correction. Then make a judgement call.

@Investmentkage I am an advocate for learning to invest, especially stock picking & buy/sell point. Yes, you can make $$ relying on index funds in a bull market, but you never develop the techniques needed to keep earning in a bear or prolonged sideways market.

I keep seeing a lot of people post things like “buy the S&P 500 and get rich”. What many won’t tell you is there was a time where it took the S&P 500 almost 13 years to reach all-time highs again. this happened in most of our lifetimes. “Index and chill” is easy when the markets keep going up, but many will quit and think it’s a scam if there are no returns in over a decade.

@indexnforgetit It can! But, you have to be willing to put the work in. My immigrant parents came here in their late 30s with no $$ & no degrees. Ten hard years in RE made all the difference for them. As they aged, they sold out & transitioned to more passive investing in the stock market.

@DadisFIRE I worked longer than I needed to, mostly because of guilt. I slowly reduced hours & still work ~10 hrs/wk. The finance industry prized long hours, my immigrant parents had worked hard, it seemed wrong. But it wasn't, my best return isn't working, but managing my portfolio.

Is it worth it to keep working after you have enough money? It depends on whether you understand Longevity risk vs mortality risk. Eventually the see saw tilts and the risk isnt running out of money......its running out of time. Redundancy for the sakes of risk management has diminishing value as more redundant units are added.
