NPA Confirms Warrant of Arrest for Controversial Social Media Personality Musa Khawula in 2022 Murder Case
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in the Western Cape has confirmed that social media influencer Musawenkosi “Musa” Khawula remains at large, with an active warrant of arrest issued in a high-profile 2022 murder case.
According to official correspondence from the Director of Public Prosecutions, dated 6 March 2026 in response to an inquiry, Khawula faces charges in the Vredenburg Magistrates’ Court (CAS 35/03/2022) for the alleged murder of his former boyfriend, Wandile Khambule. The NPA letter states that Khawula was released on bail following an initial court appearance but failed to attend proceedings on 28 January 2025. A warrant of arrest was issued that day, and his bail was formally forfeited on 11 February 2025.
The matter had been enrolled for plea and trial on 30 May 2024 but was postponed multiple times to allow Khawula to secure new legal representation. Despite these opportunities, he has not appeared in court since early 2025 and “is still at large,” the NPA confirmed.
The authority noted that it has liaised with the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Vredenburg, which is conducting active tracing efforts to apprehend him and bring him before court.
Khawula, widely known on X (formerly Twitter) as “Gossip Girl” for his celebrity and political scoops, has not publicly commented on the latest developments.
The NPA emphasised that while it does not handle tracing and arrests, it remains concerned that the accused’s continued absence prevents justice from being served in this serious matter.

Mkhwanazi’s comments during the meeting with the national commissioner and KZN police management:
“Thank you, national commissioner for the trust. It was not an easy decision for me because I had agreed with my family that I will only serve one term.
The plan was to go on a holiday from 1 April but when the national commissioner emphasised the importance of service to the people of South Africa, especially residents of KwaZulu-Natal, I reconsidered and made myself available to be of service to the nation.
To my fellow colleagues, I am expecting nothing less than full cooperation and support. The goals remain the same; to reduce crime, to attain a clean audit and ensure that our clients are satisfied with our service to them.”

Portia Masuku was scammed out of R30 000 before Easter Holidays after she tried to buy a car on Facebook Marketplace, from A Nigerian car dealer known as Vakombe.
According to the statement, Portia saw the car on Facebook and started chatting with the salesman who introduced himself as Mr. Vakombe and sent her the Car Pictures.
Portia Masuku said: I've been budgeting this money for 3 years. I am working as A Controller at Shoprite.
I was saving to buy this car for my mother as she's now in a wheelchair ♿️ thinking she'll use it when going to collect her medicine from the clinic as my brother has a license.
This man called Vakombe sent me pictures of the car and told me to deposit only 300 for petrol so that he can add petrol and bring the car.
I did give him, but after some hours he called and said he's almost here at the Location I gave him but he can't come out because he doesn't trust me
He said What if you gang up to take the car for free, he suggested I send the whole money R30 000 all of it, so that he can appear and give me the car fast and go. I did send him the R30 000
And after that, his phone went off. Till now, it's already 6 hours full solo ngintjinyile ngilinde imoto said, Portia.
Indeed they have scammed her 30k just like that, the case has been opened and the police are investigating.
