This is insulting. This isn’t what is going on in schools. You’ve missed the target with this one, @GillianKeegan. I urge you to visit our PE department to gain a better understanding of what physical education looks like in schools.
Gillian Keegan@GillianKeegan

When I was younger, I was told I couldn't play football because it was 'for boys' That insulting approach stops today with our new School Sport and Activity Action Plan to make sure that girls and boys have equal access to high-quality sports education

In 2018, more teachers resigned from the profession than any other year. In 2019, that number was surpassed. In 2020, again, surpassed. 2021, yet again, SURPASSED! 2022, you guessed it! Teaching was bad before the pandemic…now it’s UNSUSTAINABLE.

It has never made sense to me why some schools make PGCEs/ECTs create their own resources. Schools should have centralised resources that anyone can use. Use this extra time to develop other aspects of teaching. This helps reduce workload at the beginning of their career!

This was my headteacher when I walked out of school the other day. Due to delays and cuts. The idea of politicians telling her she ‘should’ be doing even more, without having any idea what she’s already doing, is ridiculous.

Gillian Keegan has said Headteachers "have a duty" to drive to the homes of absent pupils and bring them into school, she said she would "pick them up myself" when asked how best to engage with missing pupils. I refer back to my big idea - Everyone in the Department for Education should have to teach full-time for at least 1 term in a state school (and complete it) to qualify to be there. This would mean no one would ever make suggestions like the one above, you’d hope.

Does any primary school still do that thing where the kids draw their own faces and then it gets printed on a tea-towel you can buy? Absolutely elite primary activity that was.

Todays incident is the extremely sad & worrying but unfortunately not unexpected. In a society and system where students do not fear or worry about consequences, are often backed by parents, where the staff are not fully supported, a major incident was always likely to happen

Once again for those at the back. 1. Teachers do not have the power to create and enforce such a rule. It comes from above. TEACHERS DO NOT FINE PARENTS. 2. Teachers who strike are ‘fined’ as they are not paid for the strike day. IT’S NOT A PAID DAY OFF.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan…

I’m sure every teacher who has gone on strike would much prefer a £60 fine rather than losing their pay for the days they’ve been on strike. People do understand you’re not paid when you go on strike, right?!? bbc.com/news/uk-englan…

Help please, does anyone run like an extra curricular rewards programme for PE? I’m thinking like bronze silver gold awards based on appearances at training and fixtures etc? @ShareLearnT @TeachMeetPE

Ruth Perry school has been upgraded to ‘good’ from ‘inadequate’. They got this completely wrong didn’t they but they will never admit it. Sickening stuff. This whole grading system plays with ppls feelings, emotions, careers, lives - The pressure and strain on leaders and teachers is enormous. It’s all unreliable. Spielman said scrapping one-word judgements "wouldn't really solve the underlying discomfort". She’s wrong. That’s at the absolute heart of this whole mess.

I think a light needs to be shone on cover teachers (I hate the term COVER) Sometimes they teach for five hours a day facing abuse, bullying and contempt from students. Lesson after lesson consecutively. Yet the system cannot function without them. Invaluable heroes.
