@LSaillans @aeronaut_hm It is entirely improbable. Zero probability. The air defense system had an IR camera that we have video from and that is how the target was detected.

Most possible kill chain. PCL (Passive Coherent Location- I’m consdrng it) tracked F-35 reflection via amb civ waves(not sure). LPI data link cued khordad/sayyed-3 w/o trig RWR. Ter. IIR seeker locked sideway heat sig. Proximity blast shredded RAM /damaged airframe.

Did @elonmusk foresee Iran’s capability to hit the F-35? Iran’s IRGC released footage showing their air defenses striking a U.S. F-35 The jet was hit, forced into an emergency landing but the fact that Iran could detect, track, and damage a fifth-generation stealth fighter at all is the real story. >How? Probably with very basic optical / electro-optical object detection tracking, not radar. >Totally passive: no radar emissions, so the F-35’s radar warning receiver never lit up. The jet literally couldn’t “see” the threat coming. >Unjammable: You can’t jam a camera or AI visual lock the way you jam radar. >Flare-resistant: Modern optical trackers lock onto shape, silhouette, and movement,not just heat signature. Flares don’t break the lock. >Persistent in clear weather: Once the AI has the jet in frame (day or low-light), it doesn’t lose it. Stealth was designed to beat radar. It was never invisible to eyes or basic thermal cameras (and elementary AI makes that trivial now). The F-35 has advanced missile warning systems that should detect incoming rockets… so I’m genuinely curious what went wrong here. Was the tracking so passive and optical that none of the usual alarms triggered until impact? Elon was right. The era of “stealth” invincibility is over. A cheap camera + basic AI just proved it.

F-35 hit via Mersad-16(not so sure about it, it’s random guess) . Passive tracking + IIR seeker bypassed the jet's RF jamming. AN/AAQ-37 DAS trigd auto-evasion, turng a direct hit into a proximity blast. Jet survived but stealth skin maybe shredded. A win for Iranian IADS.🫡

Extensive damage to the site and several facilities are being reported by QatarEnergy.
