Me: So you see, "LabGrownNeet" is counter-signaling. Im demonstrating confidence that ppl sense Im actually a career-chad Robin Hanson: You're not using "counter-signaling" correctly. Me: Ah yes - Ive been meaning to correct you on this. Words actually mean what they sound like

@0xluffy Yes absolutely. Often the primary benefit of travel is the shared experience of handling logistical issues together. As you say, its a source of info in young relationships. Its also a bonding experience

the best way to tell if your person is the person you are going to marry is to go on a trip together you can slowly evaluate someone through dates and hanging out, but a trip magnifies every single behavior they have what happens when the plan falls apart? does he get frustrated, or does he laugh and say “let’s find another way” what happens if the airline loses your baggage? does he panic or does he figure it out and make sure you get it back? what happens when you’re both tired, hungry, and everything starts going wrong? does he make it harder for you too, or does he stay gentle? sometimes traveling together is not about the places. it’s about seeing how your person handles the unknown and knowing that no matter what goes wrong, he is still the one who makes you feel safe.

never once in 2013–2020 did i find myself in a pronoun circle or was otherwise asked my pronouns in such away that not answering required actively declining not in college classes, not in the corporate office, not even at the god damn queer conference at the liberal university

unpopular social take I would give to zoomers collecting labels and acronyms and dxes (millenials did it far worse actually) is developmental disorders obviously cluster together and if you find yourself with one you should definitely keep it to yourself and ~try being normal

@NathanpmYoung Per this passage from her recent marketing post, its not even about the sex itself so much as a status thing Fwiw This sounds completely insane to me but Im trying to take an outside view that she knows more about escorting than me

.@aella_girl talks about how men want to think they are intellectual, but really they just want to have sex with her. So she does some intellectual stuff in order to maintain that pretense. But how different is this from actually wanting intellect?

I think this attitude is too common, even among women who want to date and marry men. Men's preferences matter too!

@adrusi It was usually"we're going to go in a circle. Say your name, your gender, and [icebreaker question]". Sometimes skipping the icebreaker Whether or not that's pressure is ambiguous. But like I dont think people are embellishing from email template to intro circle

this is the sort of thing where people embellish their workplace email signature template having a spot to put your pronouns becomes "coercion to tacitly endorse 'gender ideology'" other folks putting their pronouns on their nametag at an event *feels* like pressure on them, but they know that it would *sound* ridiculous if they complained about that. so instead they construct an alternate scenario where they were *actually* pressured
