They were absolutely mental building a house without planning permission but also knocking down a perfectly good home instead of just fining them, taking it off them and using it for another purpose, etc is more mental

@simongerman600 @Frances_Coppola An interesting point no body talks about much is the population explosion in Ireland just before the famine. The population nearly doubled in 50 years. An incredible jump. What caused that? Was it Potatoes? Was there improvements in mortality? I’m Irish and I have no idea.

@john_mcguirk Twice they were refused planning permission to build a house. So they built a house TWICE the size of the original house, again without planning. Their sense of entitlement is bewildering. Not always those with money can do as they wish. Demolish it. Lesson learned.

The family who illegally built it having been deprived of this house, one might think any need for justice has been served.
Instead the state is going to demolish a perfectly serviceable family home in the midst of a housing crisis. I would imagine a majority of the public think this insane.
