There needs to be much more focus and consistent engagement from HMT going forward on both debt relief and innovative forms of development finance (e.g. IFF-Ed/IFF-Im models). Finding a solution together, not just finding ways to say no.

Andy Burnham's train arrives at Euston at 13.09, neatly timed for 1pm news. People may be reminded of Vladimir Lenin arriving at the Finland station in St Petersburg in 1917 from his exile in Switzerland. Lenin's arrival, of course, led to the Russia's October Revolution.

Andy Burnham is set to become the United Kingdom’s first Catholic prime minister. He said he was deeply moved by the life of Pope Francis. Upon his death, he said Francis “spoke for equality and compassion and for humanity, in a world where we see political leaders target minorities and marginalize people in the search for votes”.
