CFIB is hearing from small biz owners that many bank staff appear unaware of the rules around #CEBA refinancing, particularly the extension to March 28. If your business applies with your original #CEBA bank for a refinancing loan before January 18, you have until March 28 to get things in place. Even if you are rejected for refinancing, you will be given until March 28 to find alternative funding to repay the loan. But you need to take action by March 28. If your banker tells you they don’t offer refinancing or that there is no extension if you are rejected, tell them they are wrong and you need to speak to someone more senior. Try to get everything in writing, especially your request for refinancing and any application documents. This could become important very soon. To be fair to the banks, government has been super slow to make decisions and share information on this process. It is little wonder many bank staff are unaware of the rules. This is yet another reason we need an overall delay to the CEBA forgivable deadline.
