@Lanka_Wildlife Was it? I heard it went “missing” in the dead of night 2-3 years ago

Michelin first showed this concept in 2005. Twenty-one years later, it still can't go on your car. The reason is pure physics.
That tire looks like it belongs on a Mars rover. The flexible spoke structure replaces compressed air entirely. Instead of an air column absorbing road shocks, those curved polymer spokes flex and spring back under load, carrying the full weight of the vehicle without a single PSI of pressure.
A pneumatic tire sheds heat through its air volume, the same way your lungs cool your body from the inside. Those spokes have no internal airflow. Every flex cycle generates heat with nowhere to dump it. Above 80 km/h, it builds fast. Goodyear tested airless tires on a Tesla Model 3 and completed 120,000 km at up to 160 km/h. Two problems they couldn't crack: heat dissipation and cabin noise. The spokes create tonal resonance peaks that make the ride measurably louder and harsher than standard radials at highway speed.
The reason they keep trying: 1 billion tires hit end-of-life every year. 4 billion are sitting in landfills right now. A single tire takes up to 2,000 years to decompose. 200 million are scrapped early just from punctures and underinflation.
Michelin already sells airless tires for lawn mowers, skid steers, and military vehicles since 2012. GM signed a co-development deal targeting 2024 passenger car production. That deadline passed. DHL ran delivery van trials in 2023 at low speeds. Works perfectly there.
The gap between "delivery van at 30 mph" and "your commute at 75 mph" is the entire engineering problem. The pneumatic tire was patented in 1888. 138 years later, a tube of compressed air is still the most elegant solution anyone has found for absorbing road energy at speed.

@MGaneshathasan How do you stop a suicide with special protection? 🤔

Trump says he requested assistance from the military to prevent autocorrect from changing Melania’s name in his social media posts:
They have spell correct and word correct on these crazy machines that we use to put out truths or they used to be called tweets and every time I wrote Melania, it would correct to Melody. I didn’t know about that feature. You know who corrected it? The military.

Jaffna District MP Archchuna Ramanathan has clarified remarks he made in Parliament on Tuesday (5), in which he suggested that Jaffna, along with Katchatheevu, should be handed over to Tamil Nadu.
The MP said his comments were misinterpreted by the media due to a misunderstanding of his Tamil language.
Responding to criticism, Ramanathan said his statement in Tamil was made ironically in the context of the alleged seven agreements signed between President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He insisted that he was not calling for Sri Lanka to be divided and stressed that he loves the country.
“I will not sell my country. We are people who fought for this country. Sri Lanka is my country,” he said.
Ramanathan added that his remarks were intended as criticism of the agreements signed with India. He further stated that if the government continued to “give everything to Modi,” those who support such agreements should “go to Modi,” while others could “go to Tamil Nadu.” (NewsWire)

Today morning at Koswatta junction, I saw a low-floor bus passing by. Since many people had shared both good and bad opinions about it, I installed the app and checked it out…
First thing is, even though they market this as “Metro Bus,” the app is actually called LMT GO. If you search things like “Metro Bus app Sri Lanka,” it’s hard to find unless you type the exact name. Also, it doesn’t seem to be marketed much yet. I only found the correct app name through someone else’s post. So they definitely need to promote the app more and make it familiar to people 😊
You can link your bank account, top up an e-wallet, and pay by scanning a QR code through the app. That’s a really good feature 😍
The best thing is, you can plan your journey in advance by checking bus schedules and also track buses live, so you can travel without wasting time 🙏
A common complaint I saw was that the bus doesn’t go directly from Borella to Maradana, but instead takes a longer route via Town Hall and Eye Hospital…
In my opinion, since this is the first phase and they are prioritizing accessibility for disabled passengers, they have designed the route to cover places like the National Hospital and Eye Hospital. So I don’t see that as a problem.
Another complaint was that you can’t get on or off wherever you want. But that’s exactly what “limited stops” means 😂 This bus is not meant to stop at every junction or traffic light. It only stops at designated main bus stops.
Some people also complained that the bus doesn’t wait for passengers and leaves even if there are only a few people… But honestly, isn’t that how a quality bus service should work? Instead of stopping everywhere and getting overcrowded, now when people see a bus that isn’t packed, it feels strange 😂
This should run as a pilot project for about a year without worrying too much about profit or loss, until people get used to it. Right now, buses run roughly every hour. In the future, they should add more buses so that if you miss one, the next comes within about 5 minutes.
If Sri Lanka wants to reduce traffic, people need to shift from private vehicles to buses. To make someone who comfortably travels in their own AC car switch to a bus, two things must happen:
The journey should be comfortable without sweating and discomfort.
The travel time should be reasonable, without long delays and constant stopping.
Right now, this Metro Bus service is achieving both of these.
We just need to keep supporting it until people get used to it ♥️
