@mhclg Sounds great. However *in reality* as in Streatham, Lambeth Labour cllrs & cabinet claimed a "mandate" to press on with their formulaic tinkering, shoddy "tactical urbanism" & arrogant harm - totally ignoring locals & businesses. We haven't forgotten & we don't trust empty words.

Assume she didn't expect to win? A 'paper' candidate? A pretty poor show. Let's hope the vetting for Clapham Pk & St L's by-election candidates is more thorough this time around. If Labour win both they'll have more seats than Greens. 🚩28🌱27🌼8 Still noc.

A 6th newly elected London Green councillor has quit overnight. Joanna Eaves resigned from Lambeth Council due to ill health. A by-election will be called in Clapham Park. It follows candidates that won in Camden, Haringey, Ealing, Hackney and Lambeth also stepping down

A status change which allowed community orgs to "cross-examine witnesses directly, rather than simply submit letters of objection". Could this be an option for #Streatham groups? The brutal Woodgate Drive development just forced through by council.

@createstreets Absolutely. Side note: if u sacrifice buses in order to do so, it is a regressive step. Buses (& trams) are an 'everyman' sustainable transport. Esp given not everyone wants to, or is able to cycle.
Integrated transport that doesn't reduce AQ, or local amenity should be priority.

Things can just get better - making it possible for more people to move swiftly, safely & pleasurably from any given 'A' to any given 'B' via cycling is one of the easiest and cheapest ways to boost urban prosperity as...

🆘️ Seems such an achievable ask, to 🗣📣 "Save this dementia centre" & properly incorporate the service into plans. Not dump it in the stationary cupboard. Endless talk of Community Engagement from the former council, this a perfect example of what hogwash that was. @pete556

Former Brixton cllr's stance at Labour's eviction from Lambeth Council, is that it's merely "anti-incumbent politics". Even now, Lambeth voters' *legitimate* anger & despair is denied them.

Politics has changed a lot over the last 12 years - online debate is harsher, anti-incumbent politics is much stronger, and sadly too many are quick to assume the worst motives. Serious public service still matters though and I hope all councillors in Lambeth will put that first

Happy to see the Greens making it abundantly clear that the 3rd winning candidate in St Leonards ward (who was deselected just prior to election due to antisemitic posts), is not included in their tally. Whether Ms Ali goes indie, is removed, or resigns, remains to be seen.
