One flaw however, as @TheOmniLiberal pointed out recently, has been a seemingly severe lack of punitive measures for the administration and/or handling of damages.

The headlines and narratives suggest otherwise, but the courts have largely been successful when they act to constrain Trump. There are glaring exceptions, especially on immigration, but it is important to know these court cases and their rulings matter.

Data from last week shows US tariff payments fell to the lowest level in months after the Supreme Court ruled many of Trump's tariffs unconstitutional—though they remain triple last year's levels Collections should fall further in March, as the SCOTUS ruling was in late February

On the “using AI for writing” discourse, while I am a fairly heavy AI user, I do think their quality levels vary from domain to domain. The models these days are fairly good at handling a lot of coding tasks and research heavy fields like economics and health sciences. They are significantly less good at other things, especially consumer use cases such as finding restaurants and helping someone develop their own fashion style. And if the latter is your primary experience with AI, it makes sense why you can’t believe people use it for the former (especially when the former is More Serious™ ).

Chatbot discourse would be helped if people only knew that many chatbot responses now include links to back up what they're saying. Sometimes they lie about the contents! But you can just verify everything they say. A consequence of people not touching the tech for 3 years.

@GavinNewsom Republicans own the White House, Senate, and House. They spent all last year passing tax cuts for billionaires, ICE funding, and federal judges all without a single Democrat vote. This is a Republican shutdown.

Really great write up by @JulianSpector on the resilient growth of grid battery production in America. 🔋⚡️ An interesting trend I hadn’t read before - EV battery manufacturers, like Ford and GM, have spent the past year pivoting their factories to grid battery production 👀
