Heartbreaking to read Kyle Hudson’s story. Sportsbet’s own systems reportedly raised repeated warnings about his gambling behaviour, yet at times allegedly did nothing while continuing to offer inducements. This is exactly why the Murphy Review called for a full gambling ad ban, a ban on inducements, and a regulator with real teeth. Today we’ll see the Government’s response. Michael Maguire has confirmed that Reece Walsh will not play for the Broncos this week - they are hopeful he will be back in Round 9 or 10 after a review with the surgeon (via @CozHealsSEN) Would be a return 4-5 weeks after Walsh suffered a facial fracture that required surgery.

About as clear an achilles rupture you will see on video for Tyrese Haliburton here - classic pushing off mechanism & clear pop through calf. Will require surgery & >9 month recovery, feel for him in such a big game.

The usual “I’m an advocate for player safety/adequately punishing for high tackles to drive behaviour change” caveats - but tying sin bins to a HIA pass/fail is crazy to me.

@mckinnon92 Supercoach most people use and is better supported. However I reckon nrl fantasy is a way better scoring system and is more consistent

We’ve had some positive news with Blake. He came out of an induced coma this morning. He was responsive, knew who all his loved ones were and is fighting hard. He has a lot of internal bleeding from a punctured lung, which they’re getting on top of. He is still heavily sedated whilst they are working on broken ribs and collarbone. A lot of work to go but we are over the moon about news the last 12 hours as he was in a bad way when he arrived at the hospital. We would like to give our deepest thank yous to the Moruya Race Club staff for their amazing efforts with Blake and Beany, the rescue chopper staff and everyone at Canberra hospital. Blake has many family and friends by his side. I’ll be forever grateful to Mitch Beer, Jimmy Innes Jnr and Tony Crisaf for travelling straight to the hospital for support and their efforts relaying news back to me. I’m soon to board a boat from Nusa Lembongan to Denpasar and have managed to book a red eye home. I can’t wait to be by his side. The support that Blake has received from everyone online has been amazing. Blake would really appreciate it. He has a road ahead but is winning the battle. ❤️ 🙏🏽
