@Mr_S_Ont Every single teacher in the province is qualified to teach math!!!! There is no such thing as a teacher that is OCT qualified that won’t teach math Intermediate is 7-10. Senior is 11-12 You need quals in two areas So everyone needs math. Pass the test. It’s not too much to ask

All edus should be able to pass a test on any subject that they can teach, at the highest level they are hired for However, having #onted taking a Math test at levels that the vast majority will never teach is dishonest A language test would make more sense to be honest...

@LarryOrei Secondary schools post and fill positions based on qualifications/subject. Even in elementary this happens for subjects like French and music. Is it really impossible to treat math like a specialty subject?

@Mr_S_Ont @JBradshaw01 Because intermediate teachers (gr. 7-10) may end up in grade 7&8 classes. Which means you’re teaching math. And to qualify in Ontario, you need two levels. So every teacher in the province is qualified to teach at some level of school that would require math.

I’ve never heard of an explanation of why every teacher (including arts teachers, language teachers, kindergarten teachers etc) need to pass a test that includes secondary school level math. Those who teach math at that level have specific qualifications. cp24.com/politics/queen…
