🤔 Ever wondered how economic evaluations measure and attribute value to mental health? Do they do so fairly? I’m excited to announce (to my handful of followers) that my first PhD paper is now available @TheLancetPsych. Free link: authors.elsevier.com/a/1iUfp7tf1d52… 1/6

This paper has been in the making for so long that eight children across the co-author group were born between the time we started and now! But it is finally out, and you can check it at arxiv.org/pdf/2503.13323

1/ What do people perceive as causes for depression, poverty, & mortality—and are social or non-social causes more important? New preregistered study led by Emma Bridger in a n=1000 UK sample, including a wide variety of perceived causes.

My brilliant colleague and friend @Lathe_J has been speaking about his PhD work on the Researching Happy podcast. Listen one and all! Especially if you’re interested in how economic evaluations value mental health! open.spotify.com/episode/2Uewan…

@MichaelDPlant I went into that article thinking it would discuss pros, cons, and ways forward. Can hardly believe he goes from effective aid is difficult, to how metrics shouldn't be used, to that the SBF / FTX scandal is attributable to the EA mindset, before ending with no real point

It's the end of the tax year, so I was about to give some money to charities treating depression in the global south. Then, I saw Leif Weinar's article and realised that would be silly. Now, I'll go on holiday, bump into someone, and help them instead wired.com/story/deaths-o…

No-data psychometric testing with a click! NLP and AI will boost psychometric testing research quality and speed. Based on recent research, I have built a beta version of a shinyapp for conducting psychometric testing on text data only. #Psychometrics #CostSavings #aiapplications

🌟 Evaluative frameworks are an important, if underexamined, challenge if we are to improve population mental health. I am always open to chat with anyone who is interested! 5/6
