#Dakar June 25-26. Over 200 participants attended the 2-day meeting including delegates from the MoH, @WHOAFRO 25 countries of West & Central Africa, as well as other institutions which support emergency preparedness & response namely @AfricaCDC@OoasWaho@ONUmigration & Resolve To Save Lives (RTSL).
@Prof_TBalde, #DakarHub Coordinator & Dr Dick Chamla, the Program Area Manager of EMP AFRO made the opening remarks of the meeting. They emphasized how investing in health emergency preparedness is key to mitigating the health and socio-economic impacts of diseases outbreaks and other health emergencies.
The meeting concluded with the development of countries’ roadmap to strengthen health emergency preparedness for the remainder of 2025 & 2026.
The main objectives of the meeting were :
To assess the level of health emergency preparedness in West and Central Africa countries in order to identify strengths, weaknesses and needs for improvement ; To develop countries’ roadmap to strengthen health emergency preparedness based on the needs identified;To strengthen collaboration & information sharing between countries & the EMP team of #DakarHub. #ProudToBeWHO.
