@jeope @OlyBackstrom Thanks for sharing! We vaccinated 2 on the boulevard by our place on Sherburn and noticed some others down the block do the same. It was actually pretty reasonable considering how much we love the trees, but frustrating the city wont do this themselves.

@mmarginet So rather than a) do a u turn (correct move) or b) drive the wrong way down a one way, putting themselves in danger, people opt to c) drive a giant metal box next to vulnerable road users, including kids. Insane.

The Assiniboine now has walking, skating, snowshoeing and skiing trails built by the community. How awesome would it be to have a huge park through the city year round?!

An open letter about the outbreak at Victoria Hospital, and how nurses and patients were put at risk. Everyone should read this. facebook.com/866095284/post…

@bkives People know they can vaccinate their own trees, right? ~$500 protects them for 2 yrs = $20/month/tree. On par with other maintenance costs for a home. Best money I’ve spent this year!

At this moment, a city contractor is removing a massive elm from my back yard. It was sentenced to death by DED. It was more than a century old. It provided shade for my entire yard. I could sit below it during a rainfall and remain dry.

Residents are not being widely tested for COIVD, just who CV deems a close contact. Why not be prudent and bring in a mobile site for a day to test everyone? These are not low-risk Winnipegers, as the article tries to imply @roussin_brent ctv.news/KPvZ2em

@CBCManitoba It is the responsibility of health officials, politicians and other authorities to be informed, and communicate rationales clearly to the public. No more withholding data, divisive politics, or anti-vax rhetoric. And do not discourage critical thinking. Obvi.

Manitoba premier's suggestion to "armchair critics" questioning pandemic/back-to-school response plan "If you start questioning everything that the health leaders do, you're going to encourage your kids to be doubtful and fearful and that wouldn't be a good thing to do."

@ohryan @brent_bellamy That would harm the deep root systems of the beautiful old trees that line the boulevard. How about as a good compromise we keep a few roads for pedestrian/cyclists and cars can drive literally anywhere else?

Ryan. Reluctantly, I remain.
@brent_bellamy Alternately, paving that footpath in the middle of wellington and maybe making it a little wider would be a good (albeit non-free) compromise IMHO.

Alternate headline. Winnipeg closes 80% of its open streets. Pandemic is over. Return Wellington to its previous life as a car funnel. Don’t provide kids with any safe routes to get to school. Are we the first city in Canada to give back its open streets to cars?

Motion passed to extend out pedestrian & cycling routes beyond Sept 7th Wolseley Avenue & Churchill Drive. (one existing route (Wolseley)& one net new since the pandemic (Churchill)) great team work at City Centre today ⁦@johnorlikow⁩ ⁦@cindygilroy

@CBCManitoba It looks like a motion to approve extension for the Wolseley and Churchill AT routes past Sept 7 went through. That means 80% are still on the chopping block. Keep voicing your concerns to your city councillors to keep all of these streets open!

@DaleEdmunds @SherriLRollins Note the timestamp on my tweet. Excellent that there is progress, although not for those who don’t live near Wolseley/Churchill drive. Hopefully more AT extensions coming!

@SherriLRollins @SwansonAnders Why no motion to extend them this time though? I asked what we can do, not what has been done and is no longer relevant. We’re filling out the polls, using the streets fully, sending the emails, advocating as delegates. Do you need another petition? What?
