@botzarelli I love the wire, but when I get to season 4, which is set in a school, I find it very difficult to watch because the vice principal looks EXACTLY like my mother, who was coincidentally the beleaguered deputy head of an extremely rough school.

I’m very late to this but have started watching the Wire. Having got too deep into YIMBY/NIMBY discourse it’s interesting that 2002 Baltimore’s horrific drug infested Westside seems to be filled with streets of sturdy Victorian terraces and low rise family sized houses with abundant shared green spaces. The gangsters all seem to live in modest neat suburbia and commute in but the badlands are walkable communities close to the central business district.
