“You think every time you achieve something or have success that you’ll be happy. But, then the goal posts move and they keep nudging a little bit further and further out of reach. What I’ve realized is, as long as you can find enjoyment in the journey, that’s the big thing,” @McIlroyRory

Until I was almost 40 years old, I was very agreeable. Compliant even, one might say. Quiet, obedient, accommodating. To my own detriment. Now, at 56, I'm told I am too combative. I accept that. I prefer it.

@SarahTheHaider a father (who identifies as a woman) shot his family during his son's game (15 mins from my house.) He killed 2 people, 3 others are hospitalized & he is dead. Officials seem to think he killed himself though it was so chaotic in the stands as people tried to take him down.

@walterkirn @annbauerwriter She embodies all of the midwestern virtues that have been cast aside 4 political power & influence, especially in the ‘aw-schucks’ community of Minnesota. Her coverage/observations of covid/opened my eyes to the monster of expert and “science” bias & masked for political gain.

The truth is that America found out what's happening in Minnesota with Somali fraud in large part because of @annbauerwriter . I'm not exaggerating. As she acknowledges here, she was a source, a guide, a goad, and a source of sources. She's a hero for this.
Ann Bauer@annbauerwriter

I did not have the resources to prove it out. My "dumping" it would have resulted in exactly what Shirley is doing - muddying the issue and making people question the actual fraud. Instead, I kept talking to people, including @walterkirn, and eventually turned over all of my notes and audio recordings to @ArminRosen who wrote a truly spectacular reported piece in @countyhwy that I am convinced broke the stranglehold on media talking about MN fraud. So without drawing attention to myself (because I'm not the issue) or expecting any compensation (gross) I did the responsible thing and made sure someone in a position of power and journalistic integrity had all the information. You want to knock me for that? Be my freakin' guest.

Playing a college sport is a privilege Out of the 7+ million high school athletes in the U.S., only ~6.4% or 450k end up playing their sport in one of the NCAA’s three divisions (D1, D2, or D3) Full breakdown by sport 👇

@LaxReiter It's because this actually works in Minnesota. Every time. Never gets old. People lap it up.

Pressure doesn’t create mistakes. It reveals what you practiced. Your talent doesn’t take over. Your standard does. And if your standard is “sometimes,” that’s what you’ll be when it matters. We do what we trained.

@GregReinhard19 I’m looking forward to the announcement of cap gains taxes she is exposed to, my gut tells me she is ‘protected’ and happy not to divulge the strategy. What a wuss, she is!

@JenniferSey As a father & coach, you are inspiring for anyone who is open minded & able to see reality as an enormous vacuum for power & clicks. Young people need a guiding light or purpose and parents need to slow down & do their research. Your value is positively impossible to measure.

For nearly 20 years I’ve been called a grifter, a liar, a racist, a bigot — the list goes on (e.g. eugenicist, terrible gymnast, ugly fat cow, stupid, fascist, Christo-fascist, Nazi, murderer…) I've been called more names by more people and cohorts than I can count. Those cohorts include but are not limited to: the right, the left, doctors, coaches, athletes, teachers, the Dems, the Republicans, the TERFs, sport governing bodies, the religious, HR, corporate lackeys, the Free Palestine set -- I'm sure I've missed a ton. In each case (gymnastics, covid, “trans”) I made a decision to speak up to protect children. In each case I lost friends and community. Sometimes more -- career, family members, the city I lived in and loved for 30+ years. In each case I also DID something -- I didn't just post on social media about it. I wrote a book exposing a culture of abuse, I made a documentary film, I went to school board meetings and led rallies and met with Senators and helped support legislation and wrote another book and met with state senators and wrote a gazillion opeds. I put blood, sweat and tears and often money into the projects and causes I care about. Which are always related to protecting children. Because when I was a child I wish adults had spoken up for me. If I was a grifter I’d have kept my mouth shut and kept my lucrative job and standing in corporate America. Instead I work 7 days a week, 12 hours a day to try to get a start up off the ground. And I'm 56 so definitely too old to be working this much. One of my rules for myself is to behave in a way that I think is consistent with my character. No matter how angry I am. I think I do that most of the time. I fail, certainly, sometimes. But when I wrote my last book I reviewed 2.5 years of my covid tweets and I think I did ok. Fact based, respectful. And in the end, right. I've been wrong about plenty. I voted for Hilary. Not proud of that. I was a Democrat for 30+ years. That was a mistake -- which lots of people love pointing out here. I screw up as a parent, because who doesn't really. I'm divorced. Plenty of mistakes. But starting @xx_xyathletics was not a mistake. We are an important but distinct part of this movement. Politics is downstream from culture and I believe the brand helps move the culture. How? *Inspiring content helps motivate people who agree but are silent and have been too afraid to speak up. *A t-shirt gives folks a simple way to test the waters of speaking up. Without having to say a word. *And the workout gear gives folks an option to buy a brand that aligns with their values and puts money and effort behind the cause of protecting women's sports and spaces. And that's what I'm good at so that is what I decided to do. Be mad if you want. I'm not getting into twitter spats. Goes against my "behave in a way that is consistent with my character" rules. I know who I am. I know my own heart. I know when I screw up and I aim to apologize when I do (well, my husband might disagree with that). Happy 4th of July. I'm grateful to live in a country with free speech. And I plan to continue to exercise mine. 🇺🇸🇺🇸

“Easy is not acceptable. We spend a lot of time putting them in adverse situations. That’s how you grow a little bit of a callus and an opportunity to just stay in the fight. When we trust each other and there’s belief that everybody’s going to do their job,” ConnorBuczek
