Layne The Nihon Warrior

You might still remember the internet as a place of freedom, a digital world where creativity flourished, where artists, musicians, writers, and innovators found their voices and shared their visions. But by the time I came of age, that world had crumbled. #Undead2043 a🧵

Everyone is posting ultra-cinematic martial arts clips with Seedance 2.0. Bruce Lee. Brad Pitt. Pre-existing IP. Easy virality. I’ll wait. Meanwhile, here’s something different. This rooftop sequence is a test scene from my upcoming film 2043. No existing actors. No borrowed IP. No preset fight choreography. Just original characters, worldbuilding, and direction. Built using a mix of @Kling_ai 01, Kling 3.0, Kling motion control, and @grok Imagine, edited manually, shot by shot. This isn’t a death match. It’s training between 2 friends. It’s tension. It’s intention. Curious to see what Seedance 2.0 can do. But the real question is: When models get better… do they still shine without leaning on existing IP? The real test isn’t recreating Bruce Lee. It’s building something original and making it just as powerful.

This has been the most fun project I’ve done in a long time. Especially because my 11-year-old son was my co-creator. I don’t know a better way to introduce a kid to AI than this: building a short film together, starting from the characters we both love. A little story about Layne. As many of you know, the entire 2043 universe, and Layne himself, is deeply inspired by @GenuinelyUndead’s art. One question comes up often: why doesn’t Layne wear the original thug jacket? The truth is very simple and very technical. When I created the first Layne the Nihon Warrior comic, AI was Midjourney v4. Prompts couldn’t handle too many tokens, and complex details like colors, stripes and textures were almost impossible to control consistently. The green army jacket was a workaround. Looking back, it became part of Layne’s identity: rugged, functional, stripped of excess. Honestly, I can’t really imagine him without it now. Today, of course, swapping outfits is easy. And for the 2043 shop, I even designed a darker version of the jacket: black, minimal, with the skull & bones logo. So I’m curious: what’s your favorite Layne outfit? And should the original thug jacket make a comeback in the feature film?

While everyone in the AI community is celebrating the Disney–Sora deal, I mostly see the old IP holders trying to save themselves. AI could already generate Iron Man or Darth Vader yesterday. That was never the point. What this really does is steer creators back toward remixing existing franchises instead of creating new ones. Turning creators into unpaid extensions of legacy IP is not innovation. It’s distraction. My only goal with these tools is to build new worlds, new characters, new IP, something that didn’t exist before. That takes time. That takes risk. And that’s exactly what they don’t want us to do.
