Not surprised to be honest. Even if they DID get a 455, how feasible would it be to shove a diesel engine under it? The 769s have proven this never works out. The project was a lost cause from the start i'm afraid

@Gamera365 455/8s. They're a lot more unique from the 7s and 9s with their different cab fronts, and also the /8s had a whole career with Southern, which i used and still use daily ish.
That's one reason i'm glad 5871 made the cut and not a 57xx instead of it.

To be fair i miss going to Liverpool Street every now and then, but losing the Class 90 sets has just put me off of using Greater Anglia unless needed. Loved the 90s.
