7OH entered the market place in September 2023. Remember, 7OH wasn’t added to the poison control call code till February 2025. So before that and even now, who knows how many call in and say they’re having an adverse event from Kratom when in actuality it’s from 7OH. Why? Because 7OH is still being called a Kratom product. 7OH IS NOT KRATOM! “During 2015–2025, kratom-related exposures reported to NPDS increased by approximately 1,200%, reaching record levels in 2025. Both single- and multiple-substance exposure reports increased during 2015–2019; thereafter, multiple-substance exposure reports continued to rise modestly through 2024, whereas single-substance exposure reports largely plateaued, with both increasing sharply in 2025. The large increase in 2025 coincides with the emergence of high-potency, semisynthetic formulations, including 7-hydroxymitragynine” cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/7…

@Kpascuch Banning it will kill millions of people. The suffering will be unthinkable. What do they expect us to do instead? Pick up Fentanyl or Heroin? God it's infuriating.

The TRUTH about the potential Kratom ban in Tennessee. Wow, this kid died from a whole lot of things but it certainly had NOTHING to do with Kratom. Maybe it was the DEADLY amount of Benadryl or his alcoholism? Karen's testimony changed pretty drastically. youtu.be/uP0oKK_ZixQ?si…

@LeafWithTaylor @misteaz79 Kratom deaths in Hillsborough County doubled between 2024 and 2025. Opioid deaths went down. Kratom is the new public health crisis!

I'm so sorry Connecticut. We advocated our asses off but they didn't care. At the 11th hour, Kratom was snuck into a hemp bill. Shame on you Connecticut!

I’m glad you speak up for what you believe in. But do you think it’s a big win for public health now that people have lost access to a plant that has kept them from wanting to use street drugs? Street drugs that don’t just cause dependency issues, but flat out kill mass amounts of people? Is that really a win for public health?

We need your voice right now. Please read through the State Updates below but we have a terrible new Federal Issue to address.  A group of U.S. Senators, led by Senator Ricketts, has sent a letter to the FDA urging action to schedule kratom—relying on outdated information, media sensationalism, and a failure to distinguish between natural kratom and dangerous synthetic products. This is a serious threat to kratom consumers nationwide.
Letters like this are often the first step toward formal federal action. If left unchallenged, they can quickly lead to proposed legislation or regulatory moves that could ban or criminalize natural kratom. We cannot afford to wait until a bill is filed. By then, it may be too late. We must act now to set the record straight and stop momentum before it builds Take action today:
Go to our special landing page for this action 👉 americanadvocacy.org and send a message directly to your Members of Congress and Senate offices. Additionally we will start calling campaigns and encourage you to call Senator Ricketts' office Phone: (202) 224-4224 This is one of the most effective ways to make your voice heard.

They’re really trying to convince the public that kratom is the problem… Not the opioids. Not the system that failed people. Not the policies that left patients suffering. Nope… the PLANT is the issue 🙃 Millions of adults are using kratom responsibly every day. #kratom #tuesdaymood

WASHINGTON, DC, March 20, 2026 (EZ Newswire) -- The American Kratom Association (AKA) today expressed formal opposition to Michigan House Speaker Matt Hall’s procedural move to transition the bipartisan Kratom Consumer Protection Act into a total ban on kratom. The AKA asserts this action bypassed standard committee review and limited the opportunity for public testimony from Michigan consumers. In a rare procedural sequence, Speaker Hall moved the legislation to the House floor for an immediate vote on a full kratom ban. This move replaces a previously proposed regulatory framework intended to oversee the sale and manufacturing of kratom products in the state. “We believe this process overlooked essential scientific testimony,” said Mac Haddow, Senior Fellow on Public Policy for the American Kratom Association. “Michigan residents were not afforded a full hearing on a regulatory approach that has been adopted in more than 20 other states.” The original Kratom Consumer Protection Act (KCPA) aimed to establish several safeguards, including: •Prohibiting the sale of adulterated or chemically altered products. •Requiring clear labeling of alkaloid content. •Establishing a minimum purchase age. Setting manufacturing purity standards. The AKA argues that a total ban may lead consumers toward unregulated markets. This legislative shift follows a public campaign by Patti Wheeler, whose documentary attributes her son’s death to kratom — a claim the AKA maintains is not supported by conclusive toxicological data. “It is concerning to see policy shaped by personal narratives rather than broader public health data,” Haddow added. “Many Michigan residents utilize kratom for personal wellness and harm reduction.” Advocates like Michigan resident Melody Woolf have highlighted the distinction between natural kratom and synthetic compounds. Woolf previously represented consumers at a federal briefing where health officials, including HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., recommended scheduling chemically manipulated 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH) products, rather than natural kratom leaf. “The distinction is vital,” Haddow emphasized. “The AKA believes the primary public health risk stems from synthetic compounds marketed as kratom. A total ban on the natural leaf does not address the availability of these synthetic alternatives.” The AKA cited the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) regarding kratom’s potential role in harm reduction. The organization concludes that the most effective path forward is a regulated market that removes dangerous synthetics while ensuring consumer access to labeled, natural products. reuters.com/press-releases…

@matthewmaddock “Every several years”. 7-OH and extracted alkaloids from the natural kratom plant made into pills are what is new. Natural kratom has been sold since the 90s with minimal problems.

Every several years drug dealers devise something new. Today we passed a bill to stop Kratom, a psychoactive herbal opioid-like drug that kids are buying in party stores and 6 kids in Michigan have OD’d on it. All the dems voted to keep the sales going.
