@mariezo34 Feel like at the same time, NCAA prospects are underrated. Celebrini was much less hyped than Bedard, as an example, but Celebrini is looking much closer to a generational player than Bedard is (despite everyone saying the opposite leading up to both drafts).

Be careful about slapping the “generational” label on every first-round pick. McKenna has legit star potential, but let’s not overhype what his realistic impact will be at the NHL level. That doesn’t diminish his gifts in any way.

@CaptRyanElls @logopatt Feel like you're underselling Cowan a bit, as well as overrating Harley, who took a pretty notable step back this year in all his underlyings and gets good PR from Team Canada / Dallas being a good team. For comparison, he hardly graded out better than OEL this season.

Add in 24M to spend to have a stronger bottom 6 + add a raddysh type and it’s not unfathomable.

@zoltanxvamos @joeyferg I think they are going to take Mckenna and trade for a defence. Knies or Cowan, preferably Cowan. They get you a defense who is ready now. The D in the draft are 1-2 years away at best. Leafs ownership are in win now mode.

To get serious for a second, I think you have to just draft McKenna for his high ceiling, even though Stenberg has some qualities this team desperately needs, and from my understanding all the d-men are one level below those two unfortunately. If you take Stenberg and McKenna ends up a true superstar, you're going to look very dumb. Don't galaxy brain this.

@chrismpeters No. You draft McKenna and trade Knies or Cowan for a defensemen who is a contributor now. Every defensmen in the draft is 1-2 years away minimum.
