@yumdeliciousyum @kokisuren I enjoy his performance but as 3x watcher of the movie I don’t remember what their distinct characteristics are or who dies. I think that comes down more to the writing than anything else and the fact they’re identical twins. It’s tough to do. But not Oscar worthy for sure lol

don’t understand how the academy can watch the range , the emotive power of performances like Plemons in Bugonia, Mescal in Hamnet, Leo, Chalamet, Stellan, etc etc and give that award to MBJ. Who was great btw, but is primarily a plot mover surrounded by a cast that outshines him

Not even a Sinners hater I thought it was well shot/scored/etc but I left the theatre disappointed solely due to all the "movie of the decade" hype going in Michael B Jordan is one of those "same guy in every movie" actors, insane he won over a generational actor at his peak

@jakebeleafs Anyone who watches film on the regular, knows that MBJ was the weakest out of all the nominees. Like you said, he’s great but nothing he does in Sinners stands out and he gets outshined by the supporting cast heavily

And I love Sinners, own the movie on bluray , not hating. I think this is a great film with lifelong rewatch value. But Every actor in this list carried the emotional weight of their film. To me, MBJ didn’t. His surrounding cast, & the spectacle of it all, was what made this film

The marvel/disney fans will probably hate this take and really I’m happy to disagree it’s whatever. But the academy needs to be better than this at identifying what good acting is vs what’s popular and what’s fun or whatever. Marty supreme without chalamet is not a movie at all

The fact that this performance by Leo is probably not going to win any awards is a crime. One of the greatest performances of the 21st century.
