@shieko16 @FriedgeHNIC The flat cap didn't only impact the Maple Leafs. The flat cap didn't force that brutal Kadri return, signing Kerfoot for 4 years which costed them Hyman, the Mrazek add, protecting Holl over McCann, Marchment for Malgin, etc. You need to let that one go. It's BS.

Former Toronto assistant GM Brandon Pridham is joining Pittsburgh as a Hockey Operations Consultant. He will handle the contract, cap management and planning responsibilities formerly held by Vukie Mpofu, who recently departed for Nashville. Pridham will also mentor junior members on the staff.

@mcclusk I don't see 25 coming with PIT cuz he still likely doesn't see top 6 mins or PP1, so that path isn't clear today. Andrae has played 107 NHL games vs 234 for Robertson. While both are young enough to hit another level, most teams would rather bet on Andrae at this point.

Yeah, safe bet is 15, 25 is not out of the question. He’s still improving. Look at a guy like Marchessault. Leafs are in a weird spot right now where they’re basically in contention mode, and a lot of people feel like they have no business behaving as such because of last season. Usually, young-ish players who never realized their potential with one club but still show upside are the types of players I’d covet. On the cheap. Doesn’t always work out (ie. Adam Boqvist), but when it does, you’re laughing. If it makes anyone feel any better… Emil Andrae is kinda the Nick Robertson of defencemen in this regard.

@WatchMyReview @mcclusk Safe bet is 15 goals. Let's not presume that the Leafs are the only team that didn't view him as a top 6 winger with PP1 opportunities. His usage on at least 25 NHL teams would be 11-15 mins of ice-time. Highly unlikely Nick Robertson hits 25+ goals in any NHL season.

As projected. Torn, because you’d love to see Nick Robertson pop off for the person, but it’d sting so bad after waiting for it to happen in Toronto. He missed a ton of games in his formative years that set back his development. Late bloomer potential, without a doubt. He’s improved every year - finally beating guys with his stops and starts now, but still struggles to create for himself. I see all the potential for Robertson to be a 25 goal scorer in the NHL. He passed the eye test all season last year. Maximum effort. Missing the playoffs last year, we didn’t have a chance to see what he could provide in terms of depth scoring. The year prior, he wasn’t trusted to play often - my position on moving him was always… will you trust him in the playoffs, or won’t you? If not, you have to move on. Much like I said about Hildeby, I’d wish Robertson had been given a better look. Slot him up in the lineup with a top tier playmaker for a stretch. He can score when he’s playing with guys who can find him. That ship’s sailed now. Will be interesting to see what he does in Pittsburgh and who they play him with.

@JeffVeillette Fair to suggest the Leafs overpaid for the bottom 6 adds, but this org running it back again with Kerfoot, Engvall, Kampf, Jarnkrok types and the 2nd best goaltending in any possible Round 1/2 matchup would not be wise.

It wasn’t, at least in the way they chose to do it. Their goalies have put up good to great results for the past couple years and it’s not hard to find guys who can score 8 goals
