@silkyplaymaker Intonation when speaking about a list of things is pretty much the same in every language, he just knows when to pause because that is how he says it in his first language.

I wonder if English is actually taught that way to people learning as a second language or it’s something you pick up from hearing others speak.

One thing that always interests me about people that English isn’t their first language is in the details of how they speak. Like when he says we are going to be a team that presses high, he uses the correct intonation to show it’s a list of things he’s going to say

@rufai_xyz @WolfRMFC We will never know because Tuchel didn’t even put him on the roster. Just a complete failure all around, yes tactically as well

@Learnball__ @WolfRMFC bro, the game would end up like this even if Trent is on field. Trent isn't the one who decides who starts or gets subbed? .. England played the right game, they needed to keep the defend and attack continously after tge goal. until Tuchel changed it all to 5-4-1

@WolfRMFC It needed attackers, not Trent… they needed attack just counter the press. there was an attack roger wasted... imagine if was Saka or Rashford on field

@redcup_bezy @Jacobtheclipper You and 17 others have mentioned this, i was talking in hyperbole but in reality it is something like 0.8 goals

So if the ball is in the air you can just run into the foot of a player just winding up to kick it and you get a penalty?! This sport is a JOKE and why us Americans will never really care about it. We don’t reward stupid tactics like this ✌️

@oddezny @Jacobtheclipper I understand that. But that penalty absolutely changed the game. Spain is the worst team to go 1-0 down against bc they can just go straight into their possession ball, the rest of the game showed they were the superior team. That second goal proved it

@jackie_chiles1 @Jacobtheclipper So Yamal scores or assists a goal 80% of the time when he touches the ball in the box? Punishment doesn’t fit the crime. Goals are too valuable in this sport to be given so easily. A free kick just outside the box would be a better solution

@jackie_chiles1 @Jacobtheclipper If Yamal had the ball and was aiming at goal about to shoot it and then got fouled, you would have a point. But that didn’t happen here

@Phraxas52 @Jacobtheclipper It creates constant controversy, there is always something that should have went their way. Constant chatter. I can see how they get swept up in it

@Jacobtheclipper @Learnball__ That's why the rest of the world loves it - they are completely attuned to a terrible, fraudulent and corrupt system that punishes the wrong people for the wrong things.

@Learnball__ @Jacobtheclipper It's not guaranteed. Messi missed two penalties in this tournament, more in his career. Penalty shootouts are anything BUT guaranteed goals. The defender wasn't aware of his surroundings. Yamal earned that by being first to the ball, just like any other challenge.

@oddezny @Jacobtheclipper I understand that but it makes for an extremely volatile sport, and it makes it so that the best team isn’t always rewarded. Much is gained and lost with each call

@Learnball__ @Jacobtheclipper Yes i understand. It’s the rules of the game it has always been that way. You cant compare that to how other sports operate. Dynamics are not the same.

@oddezny @Jacobtheclipper They are routinely converted at 80-90% clip by these teams top penalty takers. They are basically gifted 0.8 goals

@spencer_smoked @AndersPicks Let’s use our brains for a minute here, i know it may be tough…in soccer, a foul gives a team basically the equivalent of 50 points in basketball. Nobody said ignore the rules. But the rules are incredibly flawed

Soccer may be a more flawed sport than Basketball The fact that a guy who doesn’t have a scoring chance gets accidently kicked by a guy going for the ball that doesn’t see him, and gets rewarded with a penalty shot(in a sport where no one scores ever) is hilarious I’m on Spain btw

@coreyob13 @AndersPicks Except it isn’t the same. This is a 50/50 ball at the edge if the box where a guy just throws his body in there out of control, elbows the ball, and gets rewarded for it. Not a goal-scoring opportunity

@AndersPicks its similar to if you get pass interference in the endzone on a ball the guy wouldnt have cought. gets u to the one yd line and a first down even tho the other team wouldnt have scored on that play

Many triggered people in the comments seem to think I’m arguing the foul call Obviously a foul, but the argument is the sport itself is just flawed. The penalty just doesn’t justify the reward

@spencer_smoked @AndersPicks A foul in basketball is the chance at 2 points. In a game where a team averages 115 ppg, you are only giving them a chance at 1.7% of that. In soccer, that one goal they gift you could be all you need to win. We make the punishment fit the crime

@AndersPicks Lmao thats like saying you “accidentally” blocked a guy in the back in football or you “accidentally swatted a guys head” in basketball Why do you idiots think intent matters more than the action that occured? IT WAS A FOUL BY EVERY DEFINITION OF A FOUL

@NC_Skins_WFT @Jacobtheclipper I don’t doubt that is in fact the rule. Once again, i am debating the fairness of it. Gifting a goal in a low scoring sport should be for something egregious. But yep, this is how it is i guess
