Particularly sad to know the San Diego Islamic Center shooters were 17 and 19. How did we produce a society that convinces young people to go shoot up a house of worship and then end their own lives? What had we taught them and what future had we offered them?

@CrypticSnapper Yah I agree it's insensitive framing, given that the victims were Muslims and not Jews.
I think a lot of people's perception is that the same people who would shoot up a mosque would also shoot up a synagogue and see both groups as equally vulnerable.

I don’t have it in me to fight with parents who haven’t experienced schools yet. Or for that matter non-teachers.
We are all better parents before we have kids or kids of a certain age. And we are all better teachers when we have never taught a day in our life.

One of the things I find quite interesting about Mamdani is he himself is from a group (Uganda Indians) that was kicked out a place, but he never talks about it or makes documentaries interviewing little old ladies who endured that ordeal — because that particular story has never “helped” him; he knows the intersectional formula doesn’t like it.
