The nut zealotry of Ed Miliband A new occasional series — No 3 Massive Silicon Valley company OpenAI has today paused its major Stargate UK data centre infrastructure project, citing high energy costs and the regulatory environment in the UK. UK industrial energy costs are the highest in the world (thanks, Ed). OpenAI and other AI giants are worried that Starmer’s desire (backed by Ed) to cosy up closer to the EU will mean AI in the UK coming under the Brussels’ regulatory regime, which is killing off AI projects in the EU.

It will cover seven square miles of prime Lincolnshire farmland. And the solar panels are likely to come from China (so much for green manufacturing jobs). Mili-Madness on stilts.

@BBCTomEdwards This is totally on TFL and the council. They put the totally unnecessary no left onto Chelsea bridge from grosvenor road which put all the pressure on the next bridge, which was Albert. Closure was inevitable as a result, it was simply a matter of time, anyone could have seen it

I genuinely cannot believe how low things are getting right now. We are seeing behaviour from Labour and some opposition figures that is, quite frankly, shocking — all because they feel threatened by Reform UK. Let’s just take a moment to look at what’s been happening… Linden Kemkaran, Leader of Kent Council, caught an opposition leader eavesdropping outside their group room. Tony Cox, Reform Group Leader in Southend, dealing with someone monitoring who’s going in and out of Reform offices. And most disturbing of all — Basildon Council admitting there was a covert camera operating inside Reform UK offices within the council building. A covert camera. Let that sink in. This is not normal. This is not acceptable. And it should concern absolutely everyone — regardless of your political views. Yes, we are a threat. I get that. But if you’re so confident in your position, then fight us properly. Fight us on ideas. Fight us at the ballot box. Not with underhand tactics like this. If this is how they behave when they feel pressure… what does that tell you?

Albert bridge now being closed to pedestrians and cyclists means it is in a worse state than engineers thought. They were very clear 2 weeks ago, work could be carried out while open to walkers & cyclists. But it moved. It’s the only structure of its type.

Over 40% of this 3000 acre site is on prime farmland. Labour are crushing farmers with taxes while incentivising them to use their best land for solar farms, not food. Meanwhile they’ve cancelled the land-dense, 24/7 clean energy, nuclear plant I signed off. Mad.

Just got home. Got a London black cab from Holborn to Little Venice with a driver called Steven. Really bloody good laugh the whole way. Proper Londoner who grew up on the Bantry House Estate opposite what is now Wetherspoons in Stepney. I told him I know someone who grew up there. Was a proper laugh like you used to get in a black cab. Really enjoyed that. Cheers 🥂

MURDER PROBE LAUNCHED AFTER PRIMROSE HILL STABBING A 21 year old man was stabbed and pronounced dead at the scene and a second man was found nearby with injuries, not said to be life-threatening. No arrests have been made. Police say the investigation is “unfolding at pace” and are urging witnesses to come forward. Another day in lawless London.

The Tories refused to negotiate. We have negotiated - with BMA officers, who agreed it and recommended it to their committee. Their committee rejected it and have refused to meet me repeatedly. There is fault here, but it’s not the Government’s. It takes two to tango.

Rachel Reeves froze income tax thresholds — a stealth tax dragging millions into higher bands, costing basic rate taxpayers up to £700 extra this year alone. Council tax rises land Monday. Energy bill increases land Monday. And on Monday, 186,000 workless households get a £6,000 annual boost — funded directly by those tax hikes.
