If I were a head coach today, no way am I allowing an OC to make a decsion on hiring that I don't support.

@TigerPreGame Name another program where you bring in an OC who’s not allowed to hire his own guys. Moreover, name another program with a program specific offense (I.e. the Clemson offense).

6 former players on staff with 5 that directly played under the current HC. Those 5 that played for the HC had zero coaching experience prior to being handed coaching positions.
Also, one was fired because the OL was abysmal.
Hiring people who’s only credential is they played for you is not a strategy for success. It’s cronyism.

They argue that OC/DC get to hire staff. This is factually incorrect.
They argue that there are too many ex players on staff. Actually, only 4 are position coaches. Check some other programs, especially with a HC, who has been there 16 years.

Then you’re setting your Coordinator up for failure if he has to work with guys he doesn’t trust to help install his system.
That, or he’s coordinator in name only while the HC is actually calling plays.
Not an apples to apples comparison.
Also, many of the coaches in this program weren’t hired based on credentials.

The portal player that’s a late bloomer, and wants to compete at a higher level doesn’t fall into that category

I do not disagree.
However, that is not a Clemson issue.
If what you say is true, 90% of portal players are entitled and are now on teams that are hoping they won't be entitled anymore.
Same for HS prospects expecting 6 figures before playing a down in college.

@Clemson_Addict I think Dabo took responsibility in multiple post game press conferences last year.
The issue with national media and Dabo is his constant reference to his past accomplishments.
Dabo probably does this is large part to build momentum for the fan base and team.
