No question @HubCity_REALTOR that there has a been a change in HS recruiting (NIL being used) as well as portal. Had LB from Cal stayed with his signing, I would have said Dabo filled all critical needs in portal this past year Of course, we will find out regarding QB decison
Jeff Parks@HubCity_REALTOR

@TigerPreGame @CoachAb24 I think that it will take another off season to offset the previous 2 years of no (or very little) portal use and defections of key recruits prior to signing day. His portal strategy this offseason and HS recruiting so far in this class shows me he has seen the light

Great point on the WR body language @TigerNE_CU
John Suly@TigerNE_CU

@TigerPreGame @tedjackson6291 I'd add that CK also saw ghosts too often. My memory say DJ often made good decisions without seeing ghosts even if a predictably a beat behind. The body language of some of the WRs in the last 3 years tells me they too were getting frustrated at times.

When this happens, it is not without the affirmant of the Head Coach. Coordinators don't just work on bringing people that the head coach does not want/believe it, etc.
Coach Culp@LeeCulp56

@CleveIsDaReaz_N @TigerPreGame Not an entire staff, but they usually get to be involved with one or two position coach hires.

Very good points @tedjackson6291
Ted Jackson@tedjackson6291

@TigerPreGame It's debatable but I firmly believe that Nick Saban calling plays wouldn't have helped but so much with those guys. Klubnik had the skills just terrible decision making in critical moments playing hero ball. And DJ had no accuracy and extremely slow processing speed.

Trivia Answer In 2002, Darla Moore, daughter of Eugene T. Moore, and her husband, Richard Rainwater, made a $10 million gift to Clemson University. In recognition of their generosity, the College of Education was renamed the Eugene T. Moore College of Education.

Agree....hence the 90% in my post
Coach Culp@LeeCulp56

@TigerPreGame The portal player that leave for more NIL or playing time, I agree completely. The portal player that’s a late bloomer, and wants to compete at a higher level doesn’t fall into that category

@LeeCulp56 name a profession where the subordinate in a business is allowed to hire his own people without the influence of the CEO/President, etc.? If I were a head coach today, no way am I allowing an OC to make a decsion on hiring that I don't support.
Coach Culp@LeeCulp56

@TigerPreGame Name another program where you bring in an OC who’s not allowed to hire his own guys. Moreover, name another program with a program specific offense (I.e. the Clemson offense).

@tedjackson6291 is correct. And it is also possible GR did not help by putting those highly touted, but otherwise average, QB's in better position to be successful. Two things can be true.
Ted Jackson@tedjackson6291

@TigerPreGame IMO the play callers get too much credit, the playmakers not enough. And QB is the biggest issue. Clemson hasn't had a good one since TL16 walked outta those doors.

I do not disagree. However, that is not a Clemson issue. If what you say is true, 90% of portal players are entitled and are now on teams that are hoping they won't be entitled anymore. Same for HS prospects expecting 6 figures before playing a down in college.
Coach Culp@LeeCulp56

@TigerPreGame That breeds entitlement, and entitlement breeds complacency.

Most that believe something, on either side, cannot be convinced of the other side's opinion. I stand on the side of....simply put....DJ/Cade very little situational awareness and GR and/or Dabo lack confidence in them. Trying to blame one person is the easy way out.
LaSaurus Rex@DiamondGamecock

@LeeCulp56 @TigerPreGame Don’t try to explain this to them. They don’t understand

It will never be able to fully be known. Was the leash short because of lack of trust for DJ and Cade.....which was warranted IMO. Or was it GR? The answer can never be proven, I don't suppose.
Jeff@jsquaredjeff

@TigerPreGame Agreed, Broyles winner to 3 and out. U would know better than us but seems like he and Dabo did not connect. If I had to guess his leash was like 2 chain links long in regards to type of off, and particular players.
