@halfway2sane @stevia456 @Daniccca_ooh @CTVToronto True, they could have pursued that angle more explicitly, but they almost didn’t need to because her lack of travel insurance is all most people are talking about. And some folks who didn’t know you need travel insurance lwhile visiting Canada are getting an education.
English

@LeeParpart @stevia456 @Daniccca_ooh @CTVToronto They contacted a hospital that they know is bound by privacy laws and wouldn’t comment to try to help this guy get a discount. That’s the story I read. The story was not about your travel insurance options - if it was, they would’ve contacted travel agents, insurers, govt. 😂

U.S. woman visiting family in Canada hit with over $100K bill after being hospitalized ctvnews.ca/toronto/consum…
English

@BrittanyWilcott @KristinRaworth Came here to say this. It gets so bad that even pain meds can’t blunt the horror.
English

@KristinRaworth How come doctors can’t just give people dying really good meds? I don’t understand why they are in pain if we have the ability to ease it. It doesn’t make any sense to offer MAID before extreme drugs.
English

My step mother used MAiD. I don’t know if she would have died within a year but I know she would have lost capacity to consent, advanced consent being also removed by this bill, I do know she was in pain every single moment of her life. I know her disease was going to kill her slowly and brutally. I know MAiD was what she wanted and the most peaceful way to go. This bill is not reflecting the reality of those who are dying from debilitating illness.

Alberta introduces bill stipulating that only those likely to die of natural causes within a year would be eligible for medical assistance in dying, better known as MAID. timescolonist.com/national-news/…

@AlanBradyxx69 @Word_on_a_Wire @RonFilipkowski Thank Christ someone finally made this point. Has no one on this app ever taken a course in basic logic?
English

@Word_on_a_Wire @RonFilipkowski A solid point?? The question had to do not alerting our ALLIES to a move that would create chaos in the Middle East and affect EVERYONE. Japan was NOT our ally in WW2.
English

@minsterman14 @RonFilipkowski Have you noticed that your numbers are dwindling? There is still time to try to reclaim your brain. You can do it, one-meme-wonder! I believe in you!
English

@RonFilipkowski So I guess u are a liberal.. take your mask off.. go outside and yell at the sky..

@tonjiamallory @VigilantFox This sounds like hyperfocus, which can be an aspect of ADHD.
English

@VigilantFox I can focus. If I’m focused, I can’t hear anything going on around me. It pisses people I live with off that they can talk to me, I have to ask them to repeat.
English

@EVorsky @VigilantFox You believe in neurodivergence but not in ADHD? What makes you think ADHD is fake?
English

@halfway2sane @stevia456 @Daniccca_ooh @CTVToronto This is reporting 101. Completely standard. You world rather they print the story without confirming with the hospital what took place or giving them a chance to comment is a way that reminds folks that medical care is only covered for citizens?
English

@stevia456 @Daniccca_ooh @CTVToronto The fact that @CTVToronto called the hospital about this is laughable.
English

@Peorhum @CTVToronto I think the coverage is a useful reminder that health care in Canada is only covered for citizens and that everyone else needs to buy travel insurance. Shocking that people need a reminder, but apparently they do.
English

@CTVToronto Why is this a story? She is not Canadian, isn't covered by our universal healthcare, nor anywhere except maybe Cuba. They love their healthcare insurance system, she should have had travel insurance to cover medical expenses outside of the US.Canadians need to do the same in US
English

@diddydindunuff @OcamsRazorblade @Garnet_2203 She received medical care in a country where she is not a citizen, and she didn’t buy travel insurance. In what world does that make the healthcare providers scammers? Canadian tax payers will end up covering her bill. That’s some serious BS.
English

@Art_Motte @MikeSington They are so scared of having to admit their mistake that the cognitive dissonance is giving off smoke.
English

@MikeSington I love the “she def didn’t vote for Trump” posts.
Do you people ever leave the house?
English

@crflames @TIME @LeighCl68689106 Jesus, Cheryl, just move to a red state and be done with it. Leave the rest of us in peace.
English

@TIME @LeighCl68689106 Canada would be more than happy to ship Carney south. He can be governor, but not of Canada.
English

President Trump again alluded to his desire to annex Canada on Tuesday, calling Canadian Prime Minister Carney “future Governor.” time.com/article/2026/0…

@Jimomics @jlp0876 @nicksortor Far more than your snarky comment suggests. An estimated 500,000 undocumented, and 2.9 million temporary visas set to expire this year.
English

@ckolchacksghost @markmurphy9 @DemocraticWins She was 13, not 14, and he wasn’t out to marry her. What’s your point? That he’s almost innocent? Or that it doesn’t matter because she was almost old enough to give consent? Pretty weird hill to die on.
English

In 1980 (when this debunked allegation is from), the age of consent in multiple states was 14, or 12 for marriage (with parental signature).
While I don’t agree with this, it was the daily norm at the time working in Vegas.
Most arranged marriages throughout the world occurred at 12 for the females.
English

@MedRest1 @PropheticVal @DHSgov @samstein I believe that’s exactly what she’d prefer. And she’s worked it all out that this would have been the kinder option. No concept that we’re a country of immigrants, or that Christ commands His followers (of which I’m pretty sure she claims to be one) to welcome the stranger.
English

@Ma1Reyno1ds @PropheticVal @joodoff @DHSgov @samstein The fact that you had to explain the difference just blows my mind.
English

@PropheticVal @joodoff @DHSgov @samstein No, we supported politicians and policies that rescue Christian refugees, and we mourn his death. You complain that we gave him a chance at freedom and excuse his terrible death. We are not the same.
English

@NowPammsy Why has this funding not been cut off? Why has Alex soros not been arrested?
English

@ktjdzchip @rljcoelho @cla519 I can’t fathom how you jumped from this position to “Canada is a corrupt country.” Canada is a wonderful country that is trying to offer a humane alternative to egregious suffering. If your God doesn’t allow MAID, don’t ask for MAID. Let others live and die their truth.
English

A year ago, I analyzed MAID deaths from a report by Ontario’s Chief Coroner.
Now my analysis, which includes the case of Mrs. B, is in global headlines as she received MAID the same day she was declined palliative hospice care.
This is not hypothetical.
