@CriticBC @WestJet I already admitted in the post that it was my bad. Your logic of not being able to upgrade is poor. Why prevent a paying customer from paying more? How is that good for WestJet?

@Lee__Evans @WestJet Just admit you fucked up and learn your lesson from it. If upgrades were allowed, there’s no point in having the ultrabasic fare with restrictions.

Someone help me regain my sanity. Bought a @WestJet UltraBasic ticket (I’m a silver tier member, have free checked bags and board in Zone 2 as a result) I realized after booking that these flights don’t count towards building up your member tier status. My bad for not reading this when booking. This flight is 4 months from now. I simply wanted to pay the difference to upgrade to economy so I can earn my tier points and continue building loyalty with WestJet. The answer was no. Policy states you can’t upgrade after 24 hours. How is this a good policy for WestJet? I want to pay you more money to upgrade my flight. What am I missing here?

@cj3636282847483 @WestJet First logical reason I’ve heard. Then make it a policy that if you do pay to upgrade you can’t then cancel. Now it’s no longer lose lose for WestJet and the customer

@friedspongecake @WestJet These are flights booked 4-5 months in advance. Not offloading anything. This analogy would make sense if booking a few days before the flight.

@Lee__Evans @WestJet Same reason why clearance in retail is almost always final sale: they're offloading inventory at a discount im exchange for a firm commitment to hold. They offer you a discount for the locked- in deal, nothing amended.

@duchy9 @WestJet This is what I was actually told to do lol. The only option is to cancel my flight, lose the money and rebook another one in economy at full price.

@WestJet I’m aware it’s the most affordable fare. I’m also aware that the policy is stated during booking. This doesn’t answer the question of why it is good policy for WestJet to not allow someone to pay full price to upgrade from ultrabasic to economy, 4 months before the flight happens

It’s been talked about but not enough imo. Fangio vs Gannon was the difference in the two games. So happy for that guy, coming back to coach his home town team and coaching an all-time defensive performance. What a story.
