I spoke with a parent of an Ole Miss football player who agreed with Lane Kiffin's Vanity Fair comments: "I know most of the black parents who travel in for games don't feel comfortable. What Lane said was absolutely true. Ole Miss has an identity crisis if they believe there aren't two different Americas in Oxford, Mississippi, in 2026." #HottyToddy #OleMiss

Baseball conference tourney play starts today. For the past few years I’ve done a crowdsourced scoreboard as well. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d… First game is NCState-Duke at 9 eastern. All times below ET:

NO has its rough spots obviously, but somebody’s never driven around the Garden District, Uptown, Old Metairie, Bayou St. John or Lakeview. People go to NO, don’t even leave Canal, and are like “eww new orleeeens is so nasty”

@vicabarnes Sure, it’ll be hot af, but that’s also the slowest time of the year for that very reason. It can be a sneaky great time to visit.

New Orleans in July—is that doable or will I just absolutely die trying to walk around and do stuff? Would be a long weekend for my birthday. Mostly focused on eating and drinking and walking 20k steps.

Gotta give credit to the @AlabamaBSB broadcast so far. Usually most SEC network plus streams are homers, besides Ole Miss and a couple of others, but the Alabama guys got just as animated when Ole Miss did something as they did with Alabama. They even interviewed Rabe afterward

Season always flies by. One day it’s opening day, then it’s “hey aight it’s SEC play”, and then boom it’s SEC game number 30. Go win one more and let’s play a little more baseball on Taylor Road. LFG REBS

Maybe Ole Miss would have made the College Football Playoff in 2024 if you hadn't gone full Lane Kiffin

NEW: Lane Kiffin to @whalexander_ on not coaching Ole Miss in the CFP after taking the LSU job: “Obviously, I wish the timing was different. There was no way around it. Tried to do everything possible to still coach and, obviously, that was (athletic director Keith Carter’s) decision and understandable. Do I still wish that had happened? Yeah, I do. I wish that would have been allowed to happen. Maybe we would have won it all.” on3.com/news/lane-kiff…

He was told a month earlier he would not get to do both. He knew it. It wasn't news to him that final weekend. Some of us on the beat wrote about that, talked about that, etc. That was never an option. Everyone knew it.
Ari Wasserman@AriWasserman

Everyone gets mad at Lane Kiffin for leaving, and I understand the resentment. But part of the reason it turned into a major circus was that the man wanted to stay through the CFP run.

The best coach in Ole Miss history was not afforded the chance to finish the job. It will never make sense. If Nick Saban announced he was leaving to Alabama before LSU played Oklahoma, I’d still let him coach.

@ZachNunezTV I get you said you don’t want it, but the fact that you and other people have even mentioned such an absurd idea like moving the game is HYSTERICAL. And you even researched dates and shit, Zach. It’s amazing. Seriously.

I DO NOT WANT A NEUTRAL SITE, but if #LSU and #OleMiss did move to a neutral site, here's what should be considered: - Joe Aillet Stadium: Home of LA Tech, 28k capacity, 304 miles from Oxford, 216 from BR - Davis Wade Stadium: Home of MS State, 60k capacity, 103 miles from Oxford, 302 from BR - Protective Stadium: Home of UAB, 47k capacity, 185 miles from Oxford, 400 from BR - Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium: Home of Jackson St, 60k capacity, 160 miles from Oxford, 334 from BR

It's getting to a point Greg Sankey may have to move LSU-Ole Miss to a neutral site this year.
