Today, I proudly introduced a bill to reform our child support system to make sure child support payments are fully going into the pockets of the families they are intended to help. Currently, families who receive Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) benefits only get a portion of child support payments they are owed because the rest goes to the District and the federal government to pay for operational costs for TANF. The Child Support Improvement Amendment Act changes that to make sure these families in need receive the full child support payments. NEW: We are proposing long-overdue reforms to the District's child support system. The reforms will ensure every cent parents pay in child support benefits kids — not fund operational costs. Once implemented, vulnerable families in DC will get a much-needed increase in support.

The Council must act now to protect access to care, stabilize safety‑net programs, and ensure access to health insurance for all its residents. This means pushing for @DCHealthCareFin and @DMHHS_DC to use the contingency list funds.
