Every time the Royal Family has something going on, a big engagement, a birthday, a major moment, suddenly there’s a “surprise” headline from Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. A photo. A launch. Something just timed enough to land in the exact same news cycle. You can almost set a clock by it. Once or twice, fine. Coincidence. But when it keeps happening? It stops looking accidental. Because if you’re truly unbothered, you don’t move like that. You don’t need to line yourself up with someone else’s moment just to be seen. What makes it worse is how obvious the effort is. The timing feels planned. The appearances feel staged. It doesn’t come across as natural, it comes across as managed. And people can tell the difference. If the goal is to look bigger, more relevant, above it all… it’s doing the opposite. Because constantly trying to share the spotlight just makes it look like you don’t trust your own to hold. That’s the part that doesn’t quite land the way they think it does. Instead of looking powerful, it starts to feel like something else entirely. Like there’s a need to prove something that shouldn’t need proving in the first place. And that’s why the “we’re thriving independently” line doesn’t fully stick. Because when you’re genuinely thriving, you’re not still timing your moves around the family you left. You just… move on.
