The unraveling continues. On November 11 2024 the Cabinet Secretary advised Starmer: “You should give us the name of the person you would like to appoint and we will develop a plan for them to acquire the necessary security clearances and do due diligence on any potential Conflicts of Interest or other issues of which you should be aware before confirming your choice." Starmer ignored this advice. Appointed Mandelson December 2024, with vetting not done til January 2025. The rest is history

Well here's my luxury accommodation in the Acute Medical Unit for the next few days. I have a double pulmonary embolism, because one is never enough 😁 The wires going into my groin resemble a 1970s homemade hi-fi set up and actually end up on my chest. Cottage pie for supper.

From a recent house clearance here on the junk stall. Rather poignant. Some old boy, pipe smoker I'm guessing, carefully sorted and listed 150 tins of nuts, bolts screws etc. over many years. I've been through this lot but no 3/8 bolts sadly.

@Keir_Starmer Rawanda was a bigger threat to stop the illegal migrants thinking about coming. The ID will not stop the grey employment market.

I know you're worried about the level of illegal migration into this country. Digital ID is another measure to make it tougher to work illegally here, making our borders more secure. Ours is a fairer Britain, built on change, not division.

It looks like this year’s harvest will be catastrophic. That should be a worry for anyone who eats food. If a disaster on this scale had befallen any other industry, there would be a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth.

@g__j Sssssssimple then with easier planning laws, a boost for the construction industry, local employment...... Sounds like a win all round then. I guess the current barriers are the incumbent energy suppliers and not looking a gift horse in the mouth. @10DowningStreet any thoughts?

@LeginTippoh Good question.. shed loads... and with zonal pricing they could be in the right place and operate at the right times.

There's a lot more to come... there's so many billions wasted in energy and it all ends up on bills...

@g__j It'll be those damn energy companies fuelling their own pockets at the customer's expense. But it doesn't have to be like that as you demonstrate. The world is about people, they make and spend the money. 🐙 👏👏

One feature of zonal pricing is that it's.. Really very unremarkable It's used in many countries (most of the electricity in the OECD). Those countries tend to have lower costs and attract investment as readily as UK I wonder where the UK exceptionalism comes from on this one?
