Modern displays keep the image up until it's time for a new one. Because of the way our eyes work, this looks blurry.

This map is a real boondoggle for the rural enjoyers. By all statistical accounts I'm familiar with, most rural areas suffer from a very high net level of psychological suffering. The picture is frankly bleak. Why would that be? And why would residents of "crime-infested, shithole cities" (to use the Fox News ruralite parlance) be less miserable pound-for-pound than their "country mouse" counterparts in the boonies? Furthermore, what explains the outliers on this map? Look at the MS Delta, Upstate NY, Southern CA deserts, Rio Grande Valley, Western MA -- they all have some of the lowest suicide mortality rates in rural America. (notably, too, none of these are considered "desirable" rural areas by most rural enjoyers, which I find interesting) Why would this be? Is it really as simple as lower gun ownership rates in MA/CA/NY (which I'll admit makes me nervous as a staunchly-pro-2a type), and in the case of TX and MS, is the difference strictly ethnic? Or is there something else at play? And why are states like Idaho, Montana, and Vermont so high when they are almost universally considered to be HIGHLY desirable states to move to by rurally-minded people? And why isn't Utah an outlier on this, in spite of being a notable outlier on many other maps like these? There's a lot to think about here, and most of it would seem to heavily disrupt the narratives pushed by big-time ruralists.
