@bruce_mcgonigal Douglas Channel and oil don't mix. So Ellis Ross and the rest of the Kitamaat Council turned to LNG. In 2004. Dragged the BC Liberals into the deal 2012-2017. Kids in Kitamat have jobs, not drugs. FN's leadership

The irony is that we had a private investor who wanted to spend billions on a refinery in Kitimat. First Nation communities that wanted to be a part of Northern Gateway, which would have supplied the refinery, were set to make BILLIONS off the deal in equity shares. Guess who the assholes are who made sure that wouldn't happen? They would rather FN kids are wasted on drugs, unemployed and harm reduction clients.

@JasJohalBC Jas, come on, don't be ridiculous. The BCCP puts toughest rules into their leadership race and you bring conspiracy theories? I've worked a few leadership campaigns. If South-Asians were pushed away there would be very few people left. Citizen's privacy trumps transparency.

1/3 We're at that part of the BC Conservative leadership campaign where the culling of new South Asian members begins, for a variety of manufactured reasons. (What a vague email). Once the race ends, the pandering to the community will resume right on schedule. #bcpoli #cdnpoli

@BobDEithKC I think one important phrase should be added to land acknowledgements - "At time of contact..." It is irrational to think that a certain band occupied a tiny spec of land for 1,000's of years, and kept all "newcomers" off of it. Adding this phrase will give proper perspective

Land acknowledgements simply recognize the traditional territories of First Nations who lived here for thousands of years before other people settled in BC. It is respectful, honourable and appropriate. Scoring political points by vilifying reconciliation is horrible.
Caroline Elliott@NVanCaroline

Land acknowledgements are divisive and undermine BC’s legitimacy. I’ll end them in the public service and in schools. Public employees should act in the interests of British Columbians. Full stop. Join me: WinForBC.ca

@Aaronpete_ Aaron, I see your style as creating an atmosphere where your guests feel free to express themselves without fear of a "gotcha" situation. Your interview with A'a:liya Warbus regarding Res. Schl. Denialism was excellent. You framed your questions with facts, didn't box her in.

I’m trying to earn your trust. There are some who will say I should be more aggressive, ask more tough questions and push harder. There are some who say I shouldn’t speak to certain voices, and that I platform the bad people. I am trying to earn the place as a reasonable place for thoughtful, honest conversations where we don’t seek just a middle ground but higher ground. I’ll fall short. I’ll fail my own goals and I can name interviews that I would do differently in hindsight. If you have feedback - tell me. I don’t fear insults, criticism, judgement, or snark. I fear not improving. The mission remains the same: deliver nuanced discussions on pressing issues. I appreciate all the guests who share their time and knowledge.

@tomfletcherbc Tom, its an old clip and she does not say that the 215 were murdered. I am amazed that Paul Ratchford putting out this false claim generates so much misinformation, like your post. Please check the facts before you repeat the lies of others.

How the hell was she appointed to the position of House Leader in…checks notes…the B.C. Conservative Party?? If this isn’t proof that the party needs new leadership, I don’t know what is.
Paul Ratchford@P_Ratchford

BC Conservative House Leader Warbus wants reconciliation based on a big lie. One part of the lie is the claim of 215 murdered children at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School. She also wants to “educate” us that it’s the “truth.” Listen to the end.

The top two early contenders for BC Conservative leader are an unabashed residential school denier who models his style of politics on JD Vance, and a rich white lady who spends half of her time going on racist tirades about Indgenous people on X. Such joy. #bcpoli

@KirkLubimov It’s a pretty simple explanation. He was obeying the law. We have different criteria for wiretapping, release of information, etc. This came up in January when the whole fentanyl border issue came up. We obey our laws in Canada and don’t ignore them for foreign governments

🚨Secretary of the US Department of Homeland Security Kristi Noem exposes Justin Trudeau Liberal's incompetence. Wow! "The former Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau is a trainwreck. He was hard to work with...I tried to work with him previously in trying to build relationships with Canada so we knew who was crossing our border, asking them to take back their citizens who were illegal...wasn't willing to share criminal background information on individuals with us, wasn't willing to allow us access to some of their data systems that would tell us who was trafficking a lot of drugs, the cocaine, the fentanyl..." So Canada gave the US the middle finger and wasn't cooperating with protecting the safety of both countries and citizens and instead sure looked like protected criminals. This is a huge insight. The more info comes out the more it makes how Canada became such a fruitful ground for drug operations and why Donald Trump is upset.

You don’t have to have loved Justin Trudeau by the end, or even voted for him once/twice/thrice, but maybe you can think of another Prime Minister of our great country, who would simply sit there & let another foreign leader lift his leg & pee all over his predecessor with utter falsehoods & slander. Chretien wouldn’t. Mulroney wouldn’t. Trudeau’s DAD wouldn’t. This is humiliating - & this isn’t even about the federal election campaign of “Our relationship with America is over! Just wait until you see me stand up to him!”. I can handle our leaders being wrong from time to time, as we all are. I can’t handle them lacking a spine. As well, the same people marching in the streets of Toronto this weekend - burning Trump in effigy, calling him a dictator, calling for his death (!), will praise Carney. “He can’t tick Trump off. He has to read the room”. The double standards….

@spittinchiclets I admired Wayne for a long time, but he didn't have the guts to stand up to Trump and defend Canada. Congratulating Ove is not a sign of "class". A sign of class is sticking up for your country when it is being attacked. Wayne bailed. He has no class whatsoever.

@BillAckman @realDonaldTrump Trump reneges on the contracts he signs. Look CUSMA. He negotiated the deal 7 years ago and now he is violating it. How can you in good faith ask foreign leaders to come and make a deal with Trump when you know they are not worth the paper they're written on.

My advice to foreign leaders is that if you have not already reached out to President @realDonaldTrump, you need to do so immediately. Trump is, at his core, a dealmaker who sees the world as a series of transactions. Based on his track record to date with foreign governments, law firms, and universities, he is a tough, but fair negotiator. He loves to make deals and he loves to get things done promptly. I expect Trump will reward the early dealmakers with fairer deals than those that wait to sit down at the negotiating table. Countries that respond with additional tariffs on our goods will be severely punished. The carrot and the stick writ large, Big Boy style. The Art of the Deal will soon be sold out on @amazon. But if you are running a foreign country that is now subject to massive tariffs, don't wait to read the book. Just pick up the phone. Call the President, and make a deal. Just some advice from a friend of the global economy.

I have been working with John Rustad since he became an independent MLA in 2022. John and I first met and became friends three years ago, while working together on the Ellis Ross BC Liberal Leadership Campaign. We wanted to see a centre right party in BC that was genuinely representative of conservatives — a party which would welcome in more British Columbians to be a real contender for BC’s government. Today, I’m proud that BC’s Conservatives have achieved this goal by supplanting the BC Liberals with a Conservative party that supports parental rights, protects religious freedoms, and openly supports freedom of speech. Together, BC’s Conservatives have permanently shifted the overton window in British Columbia to allow for greater debate on both economic and social issues — I’m incredibly proud that BC’s new centre-right party is a strong, shining beacon for economic freedom and individual liberty. In terms of my involvement with the federally focused Centre Ice Conservatives (later Centre Ice Canadians), I publicly resigned from Centre Ice over a year ago because I disagreed with their direction. Ultimately, I wanted to grow the Conservative movement in both Canada and British Columbia — and Centre Ice wanted to leave it. Even prior to leaving Centre Ice, I publicly praised Pierre Poilievre’s ability to win over everyday non-political people, unite Conservatives, and bring new people from all across the political spectrum to the Conservative movement when I was on BC morning radio with Stephen Quinn. I believe Pierre Poilievre is going to create the biggest, broadest, most meaningful political coalition Canada has ever seen — and I encourage every British Columbian to join Canada’s Conservative Party, as well as the Conservative Party of British Columbia lead by my boss, friend, and mentor John Rustad. I have had many conversations with Paul Ratchford and he never brought up any of his concerns about my political leanings or any other issues with myself. Regardless, I wish Paul all the best. #bcpoli

Canadians at NHL games in Canada with an American team playing should remain seated during the US anthem. A small, respectful protest against an incoming US president who has said he will use force to attempt to annex Canada. A disgusting policy which we must protest.
