Dear South Africans, Ramaphosa’s CR17 campaign benefited from a period with no disclosure rules for internal party funding - hundreds of millions flowed into the campaign from largely undisclosed sources. Thanks to the benefit of hindsight that we now know that Cat Matlala was one of the sealed donors. He later signed the Political Party Funding Act 6 of 2018 into law, introducing transparency , but only going forward, meaning his past funding remains largely shielded. Today, we are confronted with a reality where criminal cartels have fully captured the state and dictating terms of which South Africa must be governed. As South Africans, we need to ask ourselves : How many criminals besides Cat Matlala donated into the CR 17 Campaign?
