@ajthompson13 @MaikiSherman Dont forget the reported firey foulmouthed accusation at another reporter at the Bellamys bar. Yes she apologized next day but still conduct unbecoming......and the 300+ complaints over the 'gleeful pole' TV1 News item..... 3 or 4 strikes/warnings..... enough is enough.

.@MaikiSherman has done the honourable thing resigning for breaking parliaments rules threateningly pursuing an MP, & for referring to a homosexual colleague as a faggot(albeit apologising to him) She bought her employer into disrepute Her ‘gotcha combative’ style wore thin.

@gcstocky @ajthompson13 @MaikiSherman @gcstocky is there any corroboration of this? Maiki is the only person saying there was a racist remark first? Nobody else in the room supports this? I could be wrong. In any event I think it was her harassing resulting in the Speaker ban that was her undoing.

@ajthompson13 @MaikiSherman But it was ok for the homosexual colleague to make a racist remark to her first? This whole affair smacks of political interference

@PronouncedHare Agree I don't think she liked at all by TPM as she has given them a few serves. I chuckle everytime I read speculation about her possibly joining them....

Maiki Sherman deserves more credit than people on here give her credit for. I’m not being sarcastic. She was quite willing to piss off left wing political parties if she thought that was what the job required.

@ricsalizzo I think she only has herself to blame. Three significant behavioral outbursts in a year. Each likeky to have resulted in formal warnings for unacceptable behaviour and bringing employer into disrepute??

I think it's sad that Maiki Sherman has been forced out of TVNZ . Didn't always agree with her or her approach but liked how she put the blowtorch to power . Need people who challenge . Been scary to see how many loved bringing her down .

@jurgen_nauditt Strange how the people who pretend to support ukr are so keen to see WW3 escalation. Thing is, if it escalates to WW3 they will be no more Ukraine.

The day before Putin’s parade: Ukrainian drones launch massive attacks on Russia; Russia is in shock—Moscow, the refinery in Yaroslavl, and factories in Rostov are in the crosshairs. In Moscow, flight operations at the airports have been restricted. In Yaroslavl, a fire is raging at the Slavneft-YANOS refinery—one of the largest in all of Russia. And in Rostov, a major blaze is sweeping through the industrial district—according to initial reports, in the vicinity of the Empils plant as well as at defense industry facilities. Ukraine is striking back in kind. However, it targets military objectives—not civilians, as Putin’s scum-troops do. As a reminder: Russia had violated the Ukrainian ceasefire 8,000 times.

@bryce_edwards I hope your detailed analysis will take into account the impact on statistics of the one off outlier $600k donation by one individual. That one amount (accross 3 parties) does distort the average for individual number/$ donations.

@NZAtLarge @black13830 @lorrainesplace Maiki own statement said she told her employers the day after the budget drinks so I think that matter was dealt with then. Perhaps a warning? The hounding of Smith and Speakers suspension last week was the cause of her (negotiated?) retirement? Nothing to do with National.

@black13830 @lorrainesplace Hmm. She apologies to both the Minister and the other journalist. Acknowledges the wrong, but a right wing hack gets all up in arms and she loses her job. Why is it the right are always up in arms?

@actparty Can't imagine your rental property owners are happy about that. Collapsing economy and landlords getting out of property is the real driver. No one should hoard housing.

𝗥𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘀 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶-𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗖𝗧 “After years of relentless increases, rents are finally falling across much of New Zealand. That’s not an accident, it’s the result of a Government willing to ditch failed ideology and focus on what actually works,” says ACT MP Dr Parmjeet Parmar. “For too long, Labour and the Greens treated landlords as the enemy. They piled on costs, removed basic rights, and tried to regulate their way to affordable housing. The result was predictable – rents skyrocketed, and renters paid the price. “ACT consistently warned that you cannot improve outcomes by attacking one side of a transaction. “By restoring mortgage interest deductibility and rebalancing tenancy laws, we’ve reduced the risk of providing a rental. When more homes are available, renters have real choice. And when renters have choice, they have bargaining power. “New data from realestate.co.nz confirms rents are cooling across the country. Nationally, the average rent sits at $631 a week, down 1.4% compared with April last year, and nearly $30 below the peak of $660 recorded in May 2024. “We are seeing this play out in the real world. The Post reported this week on a Wellington family who asked for a rent reduction, were refused, and simply found a better deal elsewhere. Their previous home is now back on the market at a significantly lower price. “That is competition delivering results for renters. “New Zealand works best when we reject divisive, zero-sum class warfare. Landlords and tenants are not opponents. When the government gets out of the way and lets the market function, both sides win.”

@Limare64 @RapidResponse47 @SecRubio And part of Hezbolla's strategy is to be in central Africa killing, raping, mailing and looting for African warlords. Yup that will certainly stop Israel from stealing Lebanese land.....

Rural families are sometimes forced to drive kids to school, even when another school's bus goes right past their home with empty seats. ACT would introduce an ‘Open Seat Rule’ so any child living along an existing school bus route can use it, if there’s space available, regardless of which school they attend.

Indian Free Trade Agreement.....so much misinformation about this on X. It wasn't till I read Damien Grant's review that I felt i understood it. Why hasn't MFAT or MBIE published a concise FACTUAL summary. Save a lot of grief surely. See: stuff.co.nz/politics/36097…

Ferries - Facts please....there is so much misinformation around. Why doesn't the relevant Govt Dept (Treasury/MBIE?) publish clear bullet point facts on past/present/future numbers for the whole ferry saga over the last 5-6yrs? Facts IDEPENDANT of political bias. Not hard surely

The budget for the replacement replacement ferries is blowing out because it was political theatre, not a real cost estimate for the project government decided to allocate $1.9b without actual costings, because $1.9b + the $600m for canning iReX is less than iReX's $3b price tag

@RobinBGrieve @TheZeitgeistNZ That’s bullshit. Kiwis don’t want to do it for what farmers pay them and farmers pay their worker less because they cry about how they can’t get workers so they need migrants. It’s circular logic propped up by government immigration policy

I back Kiwi farmers as much as anyone, but there is a real issue with the reliance on Filipino workers in the dairy industry. It isn’t a good look - it is transforming our rural communities in some areas into something resembling a feudal arrangement with the white farm owner and his Filipino serfs. The whole thing should be ended. The industry and NZ as a whole need to focus on getting Kiwis into these jobs.
