Kerrigan literally played 4-3 DE for a lot of the years he was here when we weren't a 3-4. And when we did play 3-4 it was a 3-4 over an edge often with hand in dirt.

@LethalCorndog @redzoneinthelab @cxlebjxstin I hate that the term “Edge Rusher” has taken over football. Both Kerrigan and Orakpo played stand up, outside linebacker for the majority of their careers. They lined up on the edge, they rushed the passer, but they also dropped into coverage.

*ahem* if I may speak… with all due respect to the newest Commander. It’s not that I don’t think Sonny Styles is a good football player, and obviously he’s a freak of nature athletically. I just think Caleb Downs is a better football player who’s now playing for a division rival, and we’ve been trying to fix the safety position for over 15 years now. They’ve passed on several who ended up being elite, and tried to plug in a plethora of free agents and mid to late round draft picks with wildly varying levels of success. But they’ve never found THE guy to put back there. I honestly feel like safety is one of those positions that gets devalued until you either have a really good one or a really bad one.

We haven't hit on a lb except Cole in the draft and he was mid. Coincidentally our last good defense was with London Fletcher at LB.

They’ve been striking out in the draft recently, but at least they’ve been able to somewhat hit in free agency at linebacker. They were able to Luvu who went All Pro, Bobby was terrible last year, but his first year was great, I know where years were removed but London Fletcher, Brian Orakpo, Ryan Kerrigan. Cole Holcomb was serviceable and ultimately left here to go be a starter elsewhere. Hell, Leo Chenal this year… I don’t think the swings and misses over the years have been half as bad at linebacker as they’ve been at safety

@MarkBullockNFL My only issue is, if we do get Aiyuke, and he is 3/4 of what he was before, that already gives us a Z, at that point we could trade back to 11-12 and still get Lemon and have 3 stud wr at each position than. And possibly get a 2nd and a 4th.

I think Tate is a really strong fit in Washington. Super polished, ready to make immediate impact as a Z opposite McLaurin. Skillset matches up with scheme we’re expecting Blough to run, but also things Jayden does well

@MarkBullockNFL Pairs extremely well with Jayden's strengths especially outside the #'s. Has production behind the line of scrimmage, short, intermediate and deep. Elite hands, good route tree, great blocker just not sexy one handed highlights because his QB wasn't complete ass.
