We have to look at Tamil liberation struggle as political struggle and armed struggle. Armed struggle was for some years and has definitely ended so no use taunting Tamil activists about LTTE. Political wing of LTTE wanted continuity and were told to carry white flag for safety, they did so reluctantly. We know the rest how they were horribly tortured and killed by SL army.
But political struggle for liberation started from time of Ceylon independence and continues to today, there was no break. There was talk of Tamil nation independence from the start. But talks of autonomy via federalism seem to have dominated news media the early years as there was still feelings of some optimism that we can work together with the Sinhalese nation ruling by some Tamil elites concentrated in Colombo and leftists for solutions from within by mobilising the working class.
After all this time and hard lessons , lets drop talks of autonomy, of what does not work unless its confederal with clear option to secede. When people talk of autonomy they are talking of federalism, though it can also mean independence. Words with dual meanings used sneakily for acquiescence is how Tamil elites then and now deceive Tamils. Federalism, worse with clauses of punishment if raise secession is nonsense. Any option of self rule in form but not in substance financially and on security forces is also nonsense because it does not stop the ongoing structural genocide.
Now there seems to be a rush by some western nations for federalism as solution, their Tamil messengers amongst us. My guess it may be about possible future wars in the nearby regions as it is never a rush about Tamil interests. Lets stick to only asking for a free and fair internationally monitored referendum for independence Let the Eelam Tamil people vote.

🚨 Extremists attempt to storm May 18 remembrance in Colombo, burn Prabhakaran portrait
A group of Sinhala Buddhist extremists attempted to disrupt a peaceful remembrance event to mourn "war victims" held at Wellawatte beach in Colombo on Monday, with participants subjected to racist and misogynistic abuse before Sri Lankan police intervened to prevent violence.
The remembrance event, organised to honour civilians killed during the final phase of the armed conflict, saw participants light memorial flames and pay floral tributes in memory of those who were massacred during the war’s closing stages.
Witnesses stated that a group led by a Sinhala Buddhist monk arrived from the nearby main road area and attempted to charge towards the gathering by crossing the railway tracks adjacent to the beach venue.
The group went on to shout racist slogans and directe obscene verbal abuse at Tamil attendees, including women and children present at the event. Several witnesses further stated that members of the group accused mourners of “supporting terrorism” and claimed that those killed in Mullivaikkal were “all terrorists”.
Witnesses also stated that a Christian father attending the event, was nearly assaulted during the commotion before several attendees intervened to protect him.
The extremist group later burned a photograph of LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran while continuing to accuse participants of commemorating "terrorism".

The genocide did not begin at Mullivaikkal.
It was the final chapter of decades of oppression, violence, displacement, and silence imposed on the Tamizh people.
Never forget, never forgive ✊🏽

We stand with the Tamil community in remembering the victims of the Tamil genocide and defending the truth against those who try to erase history. Brampton is proud to be home to the Tamil Genocide Memorial at Chinguacousy Park, a symbol of remembrance, the need for justice, and the ongoing push for accountability. We will always stand with our Tamil brothers and sisters in the fight for human rights and against genocide denial.

I join Tamil Americans in New Jersey and across the United States in remembering the tens of thousands of Tamils who were killed or forcibly disappeared during the final stages of Sri Lanka’s civil war 17 years ago.
On Tamil Genocide Remembrance Day, we honor the victims and stand with those continuing to seek truth, justice, and accountability.
We continue to support a just and lasting political solution based on the Tamil people’s right to self determination.
