1/ ISIS has called on former foreign fighters in Syria who settled in the country to join its ranks, seeking to capitalise on recent tensions between a group of Uzbek former fighters and the government of Ahmed al-Sharaa. IS warned foreign fighters that the Sharaa government would sooner or later move against them and eliminate them, either all at once or gradually, at the behest of external powers. It instead urged them to join forces with IS, which it claimed represented the only pure and uncompromised Muslim banner and project. The appeal came in the editorial of IS's weekly newspaper, al-Naba, released on 14 May.

From Syrian Supreme Court judges, Mujahid Suleiman: "Our goal is to gradually bring all laws into full compliance with Sharia." A Shari'ah court judge is not responsible for "legislation." He is only responsible for applying the Shari'ah in court cases under his jurisdiction. There is absolutely NOTHING preventing a judge who truly is operating in a Shari'ah court system from applying the Shari'ah to cases under his jurisdiction. There's no such thing as a judge "gradually applying the Shari'ah" to court cases under his jurisdiction. He either applies the Shari'ah or he doesn't. "If I saw even a 1% chance that those in power would stray from Sharia, I wouldn’t stay in this role for a single moment." So, when "those in power" didn't legislate the Shari'ah and instead kept the previous secular laws in place, including how the government is modeled and structured, that is not just a "1% chance those in power would stray from Sharia" it is a 100% reality. "After the conquest, we had three paths ahead. Either we would transfer Idlib’s laws, which wouldn’t fill the vast current void. Or we would apply the regime’s laws as is, or we would filter and correct these laws through a Sharia sieve. We chose the third path." Here is an admission from a "Supreme Court judge" that the regime and its judges chose a path that entailed keeping the Assad regime's secular laws and constitution in place while only making changes to it. No one is fooled, except the blind partisans of the Joulani regime, about the fact that Joulani was installed by the US and UK and that puppetry was not possible without Joulani agreeing to NOT establish the Shari'ah. "We saw that about 80% of the Civil Code articles were already written according to the Hanafi school and not contrary to Sharia. However, we removed the interest articles and froze contradictory articles on issues like inheritance." Clearly, this judge's Aqidah is corrupt. I wouldn't trust him, or anyone else from the previous Assad regime, or its court system, with deciding on what is consistent with the Shari'ah or what isn't. Besides, legislating the Shari'ah is not about adopting a secular system of governance and legislation and seeking compatibility with the Shari'ah. Even if every single law or code was brought into agreement with the Shari'ah, it would still be Shirk in Tawhid al-Haakimiyyah precisely because politicians and judges have the authority to change the laws. "In the penal code, only 70 of 755 articles were clearly contrary to Sharia; those were related to hudud punishments. Right now, we are applying hudud for (unmarried) adultery and alcohol, but for other punishments, we need strength, time, and calm." Eliminating codes or laws "clearly contrary to Sharia" is not the objective of legislating the Shari'ah. "Gradualism" in legislating the Shari'ah is major Shirk. Refusing to give judgments according to the Shari'ah is major Shirk. "The former judges are continuing in their roles but are being held accountable slowly. So far, we have dismissed more than 400 judges. Just two days ago, 57 judges in Aleppo were referred for investigation. We are filling the gaps by reinstating honorable judges who left in 2012 and bringing in new qualified individuals." Assad-era judges should've been dismissed immediately. There's no such thing in Islam as a secular court judge presiding over a Shari'ah court case. "Currently, there is no law of kufr being enforced in Syrian courts." How can we trust a judge who believes in "gradualism" for ensuring that laws being enforced in court do not entail Kufr? This judge already admitted that 20% of the civil code is contrary to the Shari'ah. He admits that there are at least 70 articles contrary to the Shari'ah in the penal code. He says that "gradually" they will change those articles and codes. By what authority? There is no authority in an Islamic state for changing the Shari'ah- not with the Imam nor judges. So, if there exists authority to alter the articles and codes that judges enforce, then that authority is necessarily contrary to the Shari'ah. This whole thing is an exercise in testing exactly how educated Muslims in Syria and elsewhere are with the Fiqh of governance, judges, and judgements. Most Muslims are not educated in these areas and therefore corrupt governments and judges are getting away with major Shirk and promoting the evil of "gradualism."
