Dutch startup @lightyear_cars has unveiled its Lightyear 0 electric car that has solar panels covering its roof, bonnet and boot so that it can be charged while driving.

@lexhoefsloot my 11yo 5th grade son Carter is doing his Genius Hour project on Solar Powered Cars. He wants to create a solar powered Car that picks up trash as it drives to help with our current pollution problem. Do you have any insight or suggestions for him?

Came across @lightyear_cars today. Their cars can be charged via solar cells on its roof & hood and can charge from regular outlets. Production starts 2021. Sign me up! I'd like to trade in my Audi! 🚗

The term self-charging by @LexusUK I personally believe is misleading to consumers, today I've reported their claims to the ASA for investigation. I urge other UK individuals to stand up against these claims. I hope Lexus put the time and energy into addressing the real problem.

Lexus claims it's cars are "self-charging" which is even better than electric according to their adds because you don't need to charge.
This kind of lying by PR people annoys me. Let's face it: Lexus just sells a slightly more efficient gasoline car. It's called a hybrid.

@LeoDiCaprio @lightyear_cars is unveiling a 'drive anywhere' solar powered car, receiving up to 20.000 kilometers worth of sun. Lightyear will build about a 1000 cars a year. Unveiling is 28th of september in the Netherlands. Might be worth looking at. lightyear.one
