@JohnTeufelNYC El-Sayed pushed uncommitted in the primary thus trashing vote blue no matter who. He’ll be treated to the same response this primary.

I'll admit that I find it somewhat shocking how fast the center dropped Vote Blue No Matter Who and went to full civil war. I expected more of a "dislike but mildly support" thing, how they've been with AOC or Omar. But we're in full blown throw-the-election mode. Wild.

@JohnTeufelNYC It’s not as bad as that. Trumps approval is sub 30% I don’t think even democrats can mess this up.

Multiple major news outlets are reporting that President Donald J. Trump is actively weighing a major escalation alongside Israel that could target Iranian energy and other critical infrastructure, if diplomacy fails. CBS News reports the U.S. and Israel are preparing options to strike Iran's energy sector as soon as this weekend, though officials stress no final decision has been made. Axios similarly reports the administration is seriously considering strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure as part of a broader effort to increase pressure on Tehran following the collapse of recent ceasefire talks. The reporting marks a notable shift from earlier operations that primarily focused on military targets. Infrastructure attacks would represent a significant escalation with potentially broader economic consequences for Iran and global energy markets.

@lawyerswithhats @escargotpro_ Man it’s not about envy it’s about not wanting to live in a failed society. I make millions and the only thing that I hate about paying taxes is that I have a higher effective tax rate than people like Bezos. I want mental health institutions and free health care for people.

And for the record, *i* am probably undertaxed; obviously I would prefer to pay less tax but if the tax system were made more progressive via changes that were executed equitably and as a result I owed more tax, I would say that was good policy

I don’t really have strong feelings about the pied-a-terre tax. But I do think people of means are undertaxed, and this tax impacts only people who have significant means AND furthers a social aim AND generates a lot of fun bad-faith squealing by people not used to accountability

Multiple friends of mine got the letter who do not have $5mm homes. The single common denominator is that they’re all registered to vote outside of NYC. All of them vote for Democrats in competitive districts outside of NYC.
Naguib Mahfouzball@didactickatydid

Weirdly, I’m a homeowner in NYC (a coop) and I didn’t show up on Mamdani’s list or get a letter from the city saying I owed the pied-à-terre tax. It’s probably because I don’t own a primary residence outside the city & my apt’s not worth millions?

@TetrimeT @gldivittorio @jackg7171 No. that isn’t how it works. The government takes it (hopefully) with our consent. Sometimes (often) they overreach. You use the word “society” but you really mean the all powerful state. Which means you at your core are fascist.

Once again, the pied-à-terre tax only applies to non-NYC residents. If you live here but filed your taxes with a primary residence somewhere outside the city to get a lower tax rate, guess what babe, you are not legally an NYC resident

Man the truth hurts. Abdul El Sayed has been a noun, a verb, and AIPAC the entire campaign. It's gross, it's alienated Jews, and may cost him the general election. Haley Stevens is just pointing out the obvious.
Mehdi Hasan@mehdirhasan

So to be clear: Abdul El-Sayed put out a tweet asking his followers not to be personally abusive or insulting about Haley Stevens. Stevens put out a tweet personally attacking El-Sayed for being a person who blames his defeats on Jewish Americans. Just a disgusting slander.

Absolutely this. Those who supported Uncommitted are why we have a 2nd Trump term. They are not Democrats. They will lose general elections. If they make it through the primary, because they used the Democratic party platform, I will not support them.
Daniel Goldman@danielsgoldman

If you were a supporter of the Uncommitted movement — which was significantly responsible for Trump 2.0 — then you are in no position to demand anything from Democrats.

I cannot see into El-Sayed's mind or heart. I do know that his supporters like to call me a "Jewish rat." They say I am mentally ill. Many have expressed the desire to watch me cry. His movement is therefore a misogynistic one. And he is its leader. Take that as you will.
Gillian Branstetter@GBBranstetter

There's been a protracted and pretty transparently bad-faith effort to portray El Sayed as some raging misogynist, and I'd encourage its promoters to ask themselves what harm they've done to feminism in the name of an effort most Democratic women themselves aren't buying

Abdul, we were both on the ballot in 2018. I was capable of winning my competitive primary and general election. You lost. You lost by over twenty points to Gretchen Whitmer and you will lose to Mike Rogers by talking like this. Everyone in America understands you want to blame all of your problems on Jewish Americans. But buddy, let me be very clear, I will lower the costs of groceries, ban stock trading for elected officials, stop Trump's abuses of power, and protect Michigan manufacturing. And you’ll just be a celebrity whining and writing books to get even richer. You’re part of the complainer class, looking for their next book or podcast deal. Bro, I just want to work for Michigan.
