@Pascalletc @CosmicDog_Laika @haugejostein If you read the article, you'd know that unemployment actually decreased as the minimum wage increased - it started making financial sense for people to work minimum wage jobs. If you're a sustenance farmer, why work a job that pays less than poverty level?

Minimum wage does nothing but increase unemployment. Hence the need for illegal immigration in the US + automatization... It's government reported numbers, poverty has by no means been reduced in Mexico. If it has it is due to record highs remittances, not government mandated wages.

The minimum wage in Mexico has more than doubled over the last 6 years — *without* leading to job losses or inflation. It's clearly a myth that good labour standards have to come at the expense of job creation or macroeconomic stability.
