"It's REALLY scary. To see that on a license? 'No name given?!' And there's a 'REAL ID' in the star in the corner!"
"I can't believe we're giving illegal aliens these driver's licenses, these sanctuary states, trying to make it 'welcome' for these people. And this is a CDL LICENSE, transporting hazardous goods, materials at times."
They are endangering the lives of Americans. Pull all funding.

As a libertarian, I was always been pro immigration and have an enormous amount of empathy for people that are born in very poor and unstable countries.
I know how fortunate I am to be born in America.
But over the past few years, my perspective has changed.
I've seen what unrestricted immigration has done to the trucking industry and how it has destroyed the livelihood of millions of veteran American truck drivers.
It has made the trucking industry an economic wasteland and made it impossible for legit operators to make a profit and survive.

My reasons for wanting all motor carriers to have a majority owner that is an American citizen:
There are overseas groups that own American motor carriers that do nefarious things like theft, fraud, contraband, smuggling, and human trafficking, but are outside the jurdisdiction of the authorities.
By requiring an American majority owner, it ensures that someone operating an American trucking company can be accountable for their actions.

I often get asked which books I recommend to folks entering the freight industry. I can only name a couple that cover specific topics: ocean, rail, trucking, air, and barges - but none come to mind that cover the multimodal world we live in.
So I decided to write a book that covers all of it: how modern transportation networks came to be and the issues facing these systems, across all modes.
My goal is to provide a primer to anyone that is interested in the evolution of modern freight.

Our local customs brokers association in Brownsville had a low attendance rate when it come to monthly meetings.
Lunch is provided with our yearly dues.
We switched the location of our meetings to another restaurant and now have a higher attendance.

No driver shortage
Just not as attractive for people to work in this industry.
Compare truck driving to other trades and you’re away from home more and paid less.
If trucking companies paid drivers better then rates would also go up. It’s just a chain reaction.
With all that said, I thinks it’s an attainable solution.
