@DrSuneelDhand Been saying that all of my life. I have never been able to tolerate food so early in the day. I eat lunch and an early, light dinner.

Skipping breakfast most days of the week is one of the best things I’ve started doing. Tea and hydration only. My energy levels in the morning are so much better You’ll never be able to convince me that human beings need three full meals a day

@TRHLofficial I think that happened after he misqupted the Sermon on the Mount, no? I get what you're saying; but this specific 'joke' I thought was in response to that (which was a pretty sad thing to do, tbh)...

@ginasfsydnee I used to make IT come to my desk to show that that *it absolutely does do that*. They show up and say "Well, it shouldn't do that." Duh.

I was in Congress yesterday and I saw signs like this in front of Congressional offices. Why? Why do you have to state your allegiance to a different country right under your name and in front of your office? We get it, you get bribed by them. But this is embarrassing.

HR: We noticed you discussed your salary with a coworker. Employee: Yes. HR: That's against company policy. Employee: It's also against federal law to have that policy. HR: Excuse me? Employee: Look up the National Labor Relations Act. I'll wait. ↓

Different for everyone. I regularly went out into the wilderness, alone and silent, to have long conversations with Him. I also read many, many books to understand who He was on earth, as a Rabbi and a Jew. I need to know Him that way as well. Make time for those conversations in solitude and keep seeking that understanding and connection.

You know what bothers me.. I know “about” Jesus but I don’t “know” him. How can I know him? How do I get to truly have a relationship with him? What defines a true relationship? This is what is running through my mind as I sit here drinking my coffee, trying to have a good day

@Liberty5781 @sukhdeep7896 Yeah it doesn’t work that way. “Violated company policy” “which policy?” “Our illegal one” Or there’s a sudden and unexplained rise in write ups and such after bringing up pay. Lawyers see right through things like that and can often show retaliation.

@SonofManwithus I am not Catholic, but my faith also practices the Sacrament with wafers and water. It is a physical thing we do "in memory of him" and his physical sacrifice.

This has never made sense to me. At the Last Supper when Jesus broke the bread and shared the wine... He said "do this in memory of me". I know the catholic church and some other denominations have communion. But I always interpreted that as having a meal of fellowship in his name. Eating and having a drink, talking about our lord and loving each other. Am I way off base?

Why on earth should we pay attention to anything said by a Pope who deliberately misquotes scripture? Wow.

@jackunheard I am not Catholic but I have bothered to read a Catholic Bible and that is straight up NOT in the Sermon. As he well knows. This is politics, not religious, in nature. Shame on him.

NEW: Outrage has broken out after Pope Leo appeared to quote Jesus using a passage that does not exist in the Bible. “Jesus told us, ‘Blessed are the peacemakers, but woe to those who manipulate religion in the very name of God for their own military, economic, or political gain, dragging that which is sacred into darkness and filth.’” The first line echoes scripture. The rest does not appear in any biblical passage. The Pope is being accused of using a fabricated quote from Jesus to push a political message.

Don't hate me but--I work from my home office and often my K'Boo will decide I need to stop everything and pause for a 5 minute hug on my desk, with purring. And it is such a great stress-buster! I have trained myself to just let her do it, since she seems to sense when I'm tense.

@DefiyantlyFree This is nicely articulated. From the age of 14 onward, I did not want anyone standing between me and Christ. I don't attend any church. It's very direct for me and my soul is happy with it.

Matthew 27:51: God tore the veil of the temple from top to bottom. That act eliminated the need for a priestly mediating class between God and the individual. The entire theological trajectory of the New Testament moves toward personal access to God, personal conviction through the Holy Spirit, and personal accountability for one’s own faith. Denominations aren’t evidence of failure. They’re evidence that people are doing exactly what the torn veil invited them to do which is wrestling with God directly. Furthermore, the existence of multiples denominations it doesn’t mean that Scripture is not the ultimate authority, it just means that we are humans and we not infallible. Catholics have had massive internal disagreements (the Great Schism, sedevacantists, liberation theology vs. traditionalists), the Magisterium must also be a failed authority. The logic cuts both ways and proves nothing. Also, authority and unity are two different things. Solar Scriptura never promises that we are going to all arrive at the same destination. All it does is reiterate, that the Bible already tells us which is that the word of God is the ultimate authority in our lives. The problem with making this argument is that first of all every single denomination of Protestant Christianity agrees on the divinity of Christ, salvation through faith, the resurrection, and the position of scripture in our lives, which is that it is the ultimate authority. Also, this is an argument that is inherently authoritarian because what it’s saying is that you are not allowed to read Scripture for yourself. You must submit yourself to an intermediary. That is an authoritarian argument because while you have the choice to submit yourself to an intermediary anytime you’re forced to do so takes away the very basic premise of Christianity, which is your free will. If God himself cannot force us to worship him, why would man be able to? The entire premise of Christianity and all of its various denominations is choice. The freedom to worship. That is why we are a free nation because we were founded on that very basic but also life altering principle.
JuliansRum@ItsJuliansRum

If the Protestant doctrine of Sola Scriptura is correct and the Bible is the sole infallible source for Christian belief, then why did it lead to thousands of splintered denominations with differing beliefs?

I will read, should be interesting. I grew up in Las Vegas, in a job that often brought me into contact with celebrities--whom I viewed as 'performing artists'. So off duty was off duty to me. Didn't dream of bothering them when they were not working. They appreciated being able to be "off work right now". :)

I was pro choice until I found out at 20 years old that I lost a sibling through abortion When it hit that close to home I was faced with feelings I had never had before. What do you mean one of us is missing? Abortion has a far greater impact than just a “personal medical choice between a woman and her doctor”, my brother or sister they were a real person, a real human, they shared the same parents as me, they were part of me, of our entire family. Who knows what kind of wonderful things they would have done? the memories, stories, all of it is just gone, never to be allowed to exist because of one selfish decision. Learning this also made me so confused as to why was I allowed to exist and live? Why did she make the choice to allow me to live and yet did not allow my sibling the same right? Why me and not them? You say you love me but had I come at another time would you have decided to not have me? How can you love someone when you can so easily decide if they live or die? How can you truly love a child if you are willing to live without them, and not only that, be the reason they die?
