By the time many teachers retire, they will have spent well over $30,000 on union dues to your (or NEA’s) bloated, top-down lobbyist group. I challenge ANY teacher to show me how their classroom is better off today—their profession less burdensome and bureaucratic—than when they began thanks to the thousands of dollars spent on AFT or NEA. Funding corporate big labor is the definition of insanity.

7 years ago, I wrote about the NEA's attempts to prevent locals from breaking away. Like a toddler playing Chutes & Ladders, they changed the rules when the game wasn't going their way. So LA teacher union negotiated a raise. But layoffs are on the horizon as LA schools are underwater. Seems logical to me except where are the unions going to get the dues $$ they lose by layoffs? Didn't think this through did you?

The complaint even references reports of a so called “hit list” of educators who had spoken out about district practices. Teachers repeatedly sought assistance from UTLA during this period. Emails show requests for union intervention, legal representation, and meetings with union leadership to address the retaliation. According to the complaint, those requests went unanswered.
